I don't think you will ever be completely happy with those manifolds.

Don't get me wrong - they will work fine but they just don't look that good.

I'm eventually getting some chrome shorties, flip them, and redo everything on the hot side.

Looks cool, but...   radiator?

the radiator will be mounted underneath the turbos... similar to where the stock rad. mounts onto just at a different angle and a bit lower.. If you look at the first couple of pictures you'll see a box mocked up.. right now it's going to be 27X18.5x3 dual pass...

As long as they work, I'll get over the looks part of it.. right now my goal is to get this thing running... lol

Thanks

Must be a show/strip only car I take it? Love the look of the layout.

Yea I can tell you chose the layout of things based on form over function.  There's enough room in the FD bay to let you think you have plenty of room, and then you realize you forgot the radiator...and fans...

How so?

Because you let the location of the turbos dictate acceptable radiator placement.  You have no room for fans it looks like, unless they're pushers (ewww), and you have like no functional area of the radiator in the path of airflow.  It looks like it'd be all endtank.  In the cramped FD bay with alllll that heat, you'll need a stout cooling system.   Beastt and Blake were thinking the same thing, they just said it nice than me.

For the record, I tried the same kind of layout you're looking at on mine and just couldn't get it to work as well as the way I ended up going.  If I had not had to have fans, it would have been a piece of cake.  If you're doing twins, copy Beastt. /thread.  You don't necessarily have to do an A2W intercooler, but his placement of turbos allows adequate an cooling system.

I'm not quite as concerned as Matt is, but you will definitely want to make sure that you have a heck of a fan and very good ducting for a radiator in that location.   It sounds like you have mocked up a very large radiator, but just make sure you always think of the cooling system as you build this thing.   Putting huge effort into a car that ends up with cooling issues sucks, trust me, BeasTT and I did that once.

Agreed... The cooling system should be more than adequate and has been a priority from day 1.  The radiator is similar sized to most others that people are running with these swaps, both turbo and n/a.  Its actually almost the same dimensions as the Samberg core(not the 6" one, lol).  Jose is planning on using push style fans and I planned on doing serious duct work. Obviously the fans will be hidden from view mefarri, so don't worry(speaking of form over function, lol)  We have been considering some form of vented hood to help remove heat from the engine bay also.

There is no cookie cutter approach to putting a TT system on one of these cars that has a different motor in it to begin with.  Sometimes you have to think outside the box and come up with new solutions.  Obviously, time will tell, if this set up will be effective.  We feel that it covers and improves upon some of the areas other turbo kits might lack.  Piping is extremely short, no issues with ground clearance, and no downpipes running thru the fender areas ;-P.

If you guys do run into issues, take a look at BeasTT's car, he has none of those issues you listed, either.  :)

Just remember, pushers are much less efficient than pullers and plan accordingly, CFM wise.

^ Yup, I know Jose has been hawking his build thread, lol.

We might even lower the radiator a little to put the fans on the back side and use pullers.  Just depends on how high we can get the turbos before they hit the hood, lol.

I dont think he will have problems keeping it cool with a stout core.  It is just that his fans are going to be working non stop

I bet they will run constantly on the highway even

Find out i guess

Maybe with an aggressive splitter and ducting under the car but the rad is perty dang low already and perpendicular to air flow as it is to make that happen
