Get Demon to give you the specs for his exhaust, that thing hauls ass and it's all kinda stealthy quiet.

unless you own a turbo ls9 rx7 you do not know what the fuck you are talking about.

I used one of these mufflers on piglet's ls1 fd.  His motor is stock for now.  JTR headers, 2.5 dual in/out x-pipe magnaflow muffler just behind the trans, then y-pipe back to single 3.5, finished off with a 3inch 5x8x14 magnaflow muffler.  Car sounds as quiet as a stock camaro at warm idle, sounds great under normal driving but not excessive at all, and screams when you get on it.  For your hp level, I would personally try the 3 inch x-pipe muffler up front, then y back to a single 4 inch.  A 4x9 muffler tucks good up into the driveshaft tunnel.  I dont think the 5x11 will fit, but magnaflow makes that muffler in a 5x8 which would.  Just my .02.  Good luck.  Build looks great btw.

I just got under the car and measured and you are right about a 5x11 not fitting unless you hang it pretty low. It's maybe 12" at the widest and narrows as you go up and changes as you go towards the rear of the car. Would be really hard to tell without buying one first and trying to mock it up.

The 5in.x8in. (Part #12469) is not a Tru-X Perforated Core but a straight-through. Is that a deal breaker? Not really, well maybe... I wanted an X-pipe.

Just add a turbo :) that should quiet things down nicely

Running out of money and time... I want to drive it this spring, not add another 3 years to the project.

I didn't realize it was only the 2.5 inch that had the x-pipe in the 5x8.  If you were to run a y-pipe back to a single out the back, then that muffler would be fine.  But if you want to run full dual exhaust, then I would just use a regular x-pipe.  The additional front muffler definitely will help to quiet it down though.

twin 3" Samberg S/S system

Is this something new that Samberg is making?

I have seen two complete twin 3", exhaust set-ups. That exit to the right.
Pete's car was originally from California. I believe the system was built at the Samberg shop.
The car was not black at the time of the installation, Justin may not recognize the car.

Still on my quest for the perfect sounding exhaust  :yay: :P

I asked my fabricator guy about my idea of putting a mid-muffler after the X-pipe...
Here's what he said:
Quote
1.) Ground clearance will suck balls with the muffler up front.
2.) The more pipe you add after a muffler, the more it will rap like the old glass packs.

For #1, I think we can tuck a 5in.x8in. (Part #12469) muffler pretty well.
For #2, I'm not sure if that is really a bad thing or not?

I found an example of Pypes exhaust doing this on a 2010 Camaro. I didn't hear anything undesirable about it. I like it.

the mid muffler setup sounds great on the L99 and the LS3

For your #2 about old glass pacs I can tell you that you will get all kinds of people telling you stories about how their old hot rod sounded like back in the '70's.

My car has 4-5 year old glass pacs on it now and although it turns heads it sucks on the freeway.  That's with a gen1.  I need to quiet it down, the radio doesn't go loud enough.

From what I've seen,  put the mufflers as far back as possible to minimize hp loss and add to sound deadening.
You can make a barn door fly with enough horsepower.

Retirement at last.  Wife's not happy, I bought a '66 Rustang instead of paying off my F150.

After listening  to your videos I must agree.  They do sound good.

I would bet money you wont have any crackly ass sound as long as you have mufflers at the exit too

From my own experience, you will want mufflers at the rear or as close to the rear as possible. I started out with two bullet mufflers and turn downs after my x pipe - obviously it was loud. Next I added pipes all the way out the back and some 3.5"x 12" tips - it cackled like a truck and felt like it lost torque. I replaces the tips with 6" magnaflow cans. I was skeptical when they showed up at the shop since they were 3" in and out and are a straight through muffler, but I had them installed and I love the sound. It's mellow at idle and while cruising down the highway but it sounds awesome when I've got my foot in it. I also got back the torque it seemed to lose with the pipes and tips.

My entire system consists of: stock f body manis, 2.5" pipes running to a 3" x pipe, two 4" bodied bullets running back to two 6" bodied magnaflow cans in the stock locations.

This is key.  Don"t lose the rear mufflers, just add the one up front.  A straight through muffler like a Magnaflow shouldn't cost you hardly any hp.
