Well, the claims process isn't off to the best start - even after I got confirmation of the claim number it somehow fell through the cracks and an appraiser was never assigned. So now they won't be able to take a look at the car until Monday.

I started digging through the car last night and it looks like the dash was the most flammable thing inside the car. The carpet is largely still intact which I thought was weird.
This is most of my Wilwood clutch master cylinder: I'd say it got pretty hot.

Intercooler and radiator are fine and still holding fluids. Valve cover gaskets are still intact and pliable so I'm hoping for the best as far as the motor goes. I'm going to pull the motor and give it a thorough cleaning before digging in too much further but I guess that will have to wait until after Monday.
At this point it's looking like the car might be salvageable after all.
Short/ long list if what it'll need:
Glass all around
Mirrors (APR next time?)
Hood (Great reason to go CF)
Trim pieces
Headlights (EVO-r?)
1 new tire
steering wheel
Seat
Interior? (maybe not)

Trying to stay positive: the good news is it'll be easier to put in the rest of the cage now. I also have an excuse to go with the Painless chassis harness and finally pull the trigger on a standalone.
I'll keep this updated.

Hopefully you end up being able to salvage more than you think. That'd be awesome if you end up rebuilding it!

Damn the bad luck! Way to keep a positive attitude though. You'll come back better

Dude :(

Any idea which stand alone you're looking to go for? I'm thinking about going the AEM Infinity route with my car, but aside from the factory ECU, I'm not sure what people do for stand alone systems.

Sorry man I can't imagine the feeling all that work burning up. Just for info, which fuel line where you running and which brand AN fitting? Seems crazy that fuel system pressure could cause it to fail!

Treadstone nylon braided hose and AN fittings. Do not use them!!

Sorry to see things happen the way they did.  But like you said, you are OK and alive to build another one.  These things definitely happen in both modified cars and even production cars.  I look forward to seeing the next setup.

Very sorry to hear about this!  I'm getting a fire suppression system for sure before my car hits the road again!

I had a brass fitting that threads on the end of my fuel rail for a Fuel Pressure gauge and it was rather suspect and easily bendable.  I should chuck it in the garbage before taking a risk on it again.

Did the hose slip out of the fitting or did the hose actually break? I'm using aeroquip starlight hose with there aeroquip fittings.

From the pic, the fitting fractured at the snap ring groove that holds the nut on.   :banghead:

I always use major brand fittings on fuel and oil lines, mostly Russell, but I have some Aeroquip stuff as well.

Good luck with the insurance, and I hope you can rebuild it even better.   :bacon:
