1987 5.0 V8 Turbo, Mitsubishi Starion MO
« on: October 23, 2011, 01:40:06 AM »
I have a 1987 Chrysler Conquest/mitsubishi Starion. It's a fun car but I just don't have the time.  I'll have to get better pictures but you can get a good idea of the car.

The exterior was painted GM galaxy silver with black stripes. Hood needs to be redone. I originally had it wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl so it was not much of a concern. The rest of the car needs to be wetsanded and buffed. Looks good from a few feet away but for arguments sake we'll say it needs paint. Easiest way to put it out there.
Has 88+ airdam
clear fogs
88 tails
turbo door handles
18x8 and 18x10 rims
lowered 1.5 inches
unknown adjustable shocks and struts

Interior
Everything was redyed Black to take care of the sun fade
84 Touring Cloth seats (rare)
interior in good shape and most of the bad shape pieces replaced
Autometer gauges in the dash
-speedo
-tach
-oil
-fuel
-water
-volts
Zero-one dash overlay is screamin eagle black with oil/water/volts (not hooked up, for water to air intercooler setup and fuel pressure)
Carbon fiber dash pod with Boost and A/F gauges
Kill switch in center console
Nice ipod radio in the dash
pioneer 6.5's with tweeters through out
Stereo set up to be used with amp(s) (doubt i'll be including the amp sub at the price i'm asking)
Ralliart steering wheel
b&m slap shifter
I'm sure there's more i'm forgetting

Engine (less than 500 miles since gone through)
88 HO block
TRW-VR forged Pistons
total seal rings
ARP through out
MLS head gaskets
D0oey heads, Heavily worked over
Cam (forget specs)
Explorer gt40 intake
Phenolic spacer
65mm throttlebody
pro-m maf
Paxton fmu
accel ignition
FM Distributor
24lb injectors
Custom Radiator
Electric fan
C6 Transmission with mild shift kit
Custom Driveshaft
6-bolt rear swap
3.55 gears
LSD
Battery relocated to hatch
Custom Manifolds with crossover pipe
Holset HX52 Turbo
Tial 38mm wastegate
solid mounts
dual RFL BOV
4 inch v-band to 3 inch running all the way out
tuner muffler
300 walbro
a9l
I'm sure theres alot more i'm forgetting but you get a good idea

The bad on the car......
Starter is brand new but it needs to be shimmed, it doesnt engage the flywheel and takes a few times before you can get it to catch and turn over.
Car has semi-bad gas in it, it's been a long project runs and drives but i wouldnt boost it
I blew the turbo on Memorial day and the cas has pretty much sat since then. I bought a rebuilt hx52, put it on and it's leaking oil. I had someone look at it and they told me my drain line should not be running into the front cover and that it needs to be tapped into the oil pan. the drain line is running almost horizantal with a low point in the middle. I'll say the turbo needs to be rebuilt so that if it does have a bad seal and not a drain issue, i didn't lie lol, but the turbo is new.
power steering box, or one of the lines leaks fluid. It just needs to be topped off. Not a huge deal but I thought I should point it out.
It will need a battery soon, doesn't hold a charge for very long

All of the hard stuff is done and the car fires up and drives, just smokes from the turbo, it could just be the residual oil from the other turbo blowing...... not 100% sure and have lost the time to mess with it. It ran like a MF'er before the turbo blew.

Car comes with 2K +/- in parts that you can sell or keep your choice. But it does come with:
a toploader srod hybrid tranny swap, came out of a cobra kit car. it's a pricey item but one of the only manual tranny's that will put up with 500- 600 whp that the car is set up for.
A rare and pricey Pro-m stand alone maf programmer. It will let you use any size injectors and even tune for e85 which was my original plan.
pro-m blow through maf
rebuilt 6 bolt axles
core hx52
water to air intercooler set up
stereo amps
10 inch sub box
piping, wiring, etc etc etc, basically the stuff i's accumulated for it

I would consider a trade, trade plus cash, cash. I was asking 7500 for the car, with it's turbo issue and for a quick sale i'll say 4500 OBO
I would say trade value is higher, but tell me what you got.

NO LONGER HAS WRAP ON HOOD

So I guess all those emails about a deal we were going to do are off then I guess. I've been emailing him back and forth for a solid two weeks. We made a agreement on the sale price, and that I was going to drive down and trailer it home. Goodluck with the sale then. I'm not calling him dishonest, he listed everything he told me about the car. But after seeing this post this morning and emailing him last night that I was going to pick it up in two weeks makes it kind of fishy. Just wanted to make this post so others might not get burnt. Goodluck again with the sale.

Sorry man, Cars still yours if you want it but I have to cover my bases...... but I agreed to sell it to you stupid cheap for the fact that I need money now and a car that gets decent gas mileage. The price I agreed upon is absurd and you have first dibs. I get flaked on all the time but 3 weeks to pick up a car and waiting to liquidate my assets does not work for me when there is a possibility that you won't come through. Not insulting you by any means and your a straight shooter. If you would have been able to come down next weekend as I had hoped, this post would never have been created. But it went to 2 weeks and I have no way of knowing if it's going to go to three weeks in a couple days. I'm extremely busy, going through a seperation/divorce and am forced to liquidate many of my assets. I'm not in a fun situation. People change their mind all the time, I can't hang onto the hope that you are coming to get the car without having a back up plan. If someone has genuine interest, i'd let them know that the car may be sold. But starting the process of finding the car a good home in 2 weeks if you don't come through is not an option for me. Sorry if this post upset you in anyway, but I want to make sure my bases are covered. I don't know if your looking for other cars, i don't know if within the 2 weeks you find something else you want more....... you could tell me your not looking at other cars for sale and your the buyer, but you did find this almost immediately in the cars for sale section...... Just saying. I have to cover my bases

And as I explained to you I was out of town for this weekend and next. I also offered to put a downpayment on it as well. I visit this site most often, thus why I saw this. Goodluck with the sale again, something isn't adding up for me right now.

No problem, I understand. I hate dealing on the internet for the fact that you don't know who your dealing with. My reason against deposits is i'm obligated to hold the car for any period of time, or do a non refundable deposit. Both seem like bad deals. I've had bad dealings with taking a deposit or holding a car more than once. Also if I took a deposit and you decided you didnt want the car..... where would we be at then? I don't like deposits, come kick the tires, look at the car, make an offer and take it home. Thats how I like to work........

Yamaha has been looking for a swapped car for a while, and I think he might still be a little weary because of what happened when I bought my parts car. The car got sold from underneath him. Of course I don't feel bad about it but that's just what can happen sometimes. I agree that for a car priced as competitively as this, it could go any day. I probably wouldn't take a deposit for it either.

Yamaha - my advice to you is to not get too set on one car. Trust me, the car that you missed out on that I bought was a disgusting rats nest. Probably a good thing you didn't get it. This is a clean car and a great price - if it's still around when you can go get it, go get it. If not, it isn't the end of the world IMO...

Here is a really horrible video of the car but you can see it's a runner and a driver. Tires seemed to be rubbing a little bit so may need to roll the fenders slightly. Once the oil starts getting dumped in the exhaust from the turbo the A/F's go way off. It's either that or the bad gas thats in it. I drained most of it and put new gas in but before boosted hard, it would need to have the timing pinpointed and the turbo fixed.... really considering just to throw a huge stall in it and go n/a nitrous. Driving the car really makes me reconsider selling, but I need money nom

I would tell him if I had someone else interested, at that point we would figure something out. I'm an honest guy. but so is everyone on the internet. I'd like to see him get the car, but my families needs has to come first. no question or doubts about that. I'm hurting financially. 2 years ago i drowned down in florida and broke my back, this past december I was in a head on collision..... Those 2 instances wiped me out. I had to dump money in my company to keep it afloat in my abscence and I just have not been able to work much over the past 2 years. I'm not trying to pull anything, i just really need my family to be secure. Shit in another month or so my beloved 88 AE may have to go up for sale. I'm not in a good position and I cannot chance a deal falling through after a month and not having another buyer lined up. I have to look out for my family first..... plain and simple

I totally get it man, not trying to knock either of you... just want you to know why he is the way he is. The reason I got my LS1/T56 parts car was because of someone else in the same situation...

For the alert, i'll sell the car for 3200, now. Won't take that for long and I'll delete this post when I no longer will sell it that cheap. But, I am in need of money so if I can liquidate this in the next day or 2 i'll take 3200. After that I wont accept that low of a price, still including all the extras
