LS2 longblock compatable with LS1 parts?
« on: November 30, 2010, 11:54:00 PM »
Hey guys.  I am fairly new to LS motors but as I understand it, LS1 and LS2 parts are interchangeable right?  LS3 was fairly different?  I am looking to buy an LS2 longblock to replace a damaged LS1 longblock and as an upgrade rather than repair.  Thoughts?

The 24x/2x reluctor LS2s are pretty easy to swap in place of an LS1.  If it has 58x/4x reluctors, then you have to swap those, which requires removing the crank.  I've done it a few times, not that hard, just time consuming.  BTW, the LS2 you sent me the link to has a 24x/2x reluctor.
FC/FD plug and play wiring harnesses, LSx swap AC systems, LSx swap power steering lines.

Of note, Lingenfelter has a 24x/2x to 58x/4x (and vice versa I believe) adapter box.
