oil pressure sender not working...
« on: October 06, 2010, 11:05:05 AM »
hey guys... need help once more..

here's the deal. i've check the wiring on the oil pressure gauge..it's all good. i've check the gauge cluster..the needle works fine.
and i've replaced a new oil pressure sender(thinking it was bad), and yet the gauge isnt' moving any where once the engine runs.

i've isolated everything, and the only reasoning is that the oil pressure sender it's working right. i've check resistance on the unit itself, it reads 0.L
i bought it from Autozone, not the OEM one. but i went through 2 of them. couldnt afford $93 that Mazda wants...

what else can be the problem?? what else can i do??

thanks for the help in advance guys.

If you have a remote line installed for the sender then the housing may not be getting a good enough ground. Try touching a piece of wire from the sender housing to a chassi ground while the car is running. I've had to do that with all of the swaps I've done.

see, i had also thought about grounding issues as well.
what i did was i looped some wires around a few time, solder it in and grounded that wire.

that didnt work. the gauge didnt move at all.

I'm having the same exact same problem with mine, I can make the circuit reads properly with resistors etc. When I hook it up and then my guage just sits there, I ground the sensor itself and it pegs, as soon as I start the car it goes back to zero?/??

Yeah mine works, it's just backwards?! and nothing I do makes it work clockwise, so I'm at a loss

I got mine to work, my speedo ended up being bad, I have a complet integra dash if you need one too, but I used a STA-1000 Dakota digital and it calibrated nicely, let me know if you're still having trouble
