Help me spend my Best Buy gift card - Audio
« on: March 09, 2017, 03:48:20 PM »
So I ended up with a gift card to Best Buy because I was too late to return a gift for my dad.  Now I am left with ~$170 after getting his gift sorted out.

I have an FC and the radio doesn't work all that well.  It is the original and depending on how I touch the volume knob, some speakers work and others don't.

So....If you had $170 for stereo stuff (head unit and maybe a speaker or two), what would you buy?  I don't need anything fancy (don't ever hook up my phone, might do Ipod, maybe).  Mostly just clear radio and potentially CD player.  If I have enough left over for a speaker or two, that would be great, the rears don't work in my car but honestly don't know if that is from the head unit being bad or the speakers.

Thanks in advance.

This:

Plus an install kit.

The stock speakers will sound much better with a decent head unit.   I've had good luck with Alpine being simple to use.    Get a thumb drive for 10 bucks and load it with Mp3s.   Boom.  :)

I've had good luck with Pioneer over the years.  I especially like that their user interface is pretty intuitive, so you don't have to get out the damn manual every time you want to change some settings.   :bacon:

That said, they really screwed the pooch on their Appradio offering.  MY FD had one in it when I bought it, and it's flaky as hell to get it to connect with my Samsung phone, and it requires special versions of apps.  For some reason, none of the normal Android phone apps work with it.

Their standard Bluetooth units are hard to beat though.
