E brake with solid axle

Those with solid axles: what are you doing about the ebrake?
When my FD caught fire I had to use the e brake to stop the car so having one is a must IMO. I swapped in an 8.8" SLA from a '00 mustang in my FC and I'm having issues getting the e brake to engage. I cant use the stock FC back cables because they are too short and the ends wont work. I got cables for a mustang and got them to physically connect the calipers to the factory "tee" cable, but even with no slack i cant get good engagement.  Its like the e brake handle needs a bigger radius or something.
Any suggestions?

I used a Lokar universal kit for my fc. Hooked it up to the factory front cable then split from there. I can take some pics tomorrow if you'd like.

I used stock Mustang cables (I had Mustang rear brakes) from a '94.   Hooked them up like Slow said.   Worked great.

I guess I was just being apprehensive about not using the factory swaged ends. I'll go by Autozone and see if they have any cable ends.
I'll report back. Thanks
