8.8 diff drain plug seized
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:36:35 AM »
So any magic tricks for getting the plug out of my cobra diff.

I haven't tried heat yet, would it be best to heat the plug or the case?

I also haven't tried a breaker bar through fear of cracking the rear cover.

Yeah.1/2" NPT with a male square wrenching head and safety wire holes by B&E. They're blue.

I would try heating the plug. I would also try a breaker bar. You could try a big extractor. If all else fails drill/mill it out.

It's probably not seized, use the breaker bar. They have sealant on them from the factory. Have you ever removed it before?

Nope, never removed it before. Hopefully your right, thanks

And thanks for the offer Mr Spacevomit. I will try the breaker bar first and take it from there.

They need a breaker bar to remove the plug the first time.

All sorted now. It didn't actually take much force. I just needed that little extra leverage.
