Bought a new car day... already want to start messing with it....
« on: September 07, 2015, 08:49:11 PM »
After 14 years and 192K we have decided to replace our Honda Civic.  It has been an great car, the only thing that went on it is the alternator.  Still has original exhaust and clutch!

After much deliberation with the wife, no matter how many other cars we looked at in the sub 30K range, we kept coming back to the Mazda 6.  It drives great with a good mix of performance and ride quality.  It could use a few more pony's but I wanted something that would get decent mileage.  The interior is probably one of the things that sold me the most, everything about the design is extremely classy and clean.  The final selling point is we could get in 6 speed manual.

Future mods:
Remove Mazda 6 and Skyactive emblems
Racing Beat Exhaust
Cork or Injen intake
Tune
Wheels and tires when the stock one's wear out
Maybe H&R Springs

2016 6 speed touring, Deep Crystal Blue with black interior:

Car looks great!   I really like the new Mazda 3 and 6.   Nice cars.  If they had a Mazdaspeed 3, I may have picked that up vs. the Focus ST.

Excellent choice - Each time I see one - I keep looking at it until it drives away.

Nice cars...always looked good on the road.

Not sure it is worth the money to mod though as the results have to be pretty low.

I'd keep it stock other than maybe the exhaust.

You are probably right, exhaust will give it just a little more tone, not too worried about the few HP it will gain. I am up in the air about the intake. At least want a k&n drop in but can't decide if I should just get a full intake.

I got in this am and had a coolant light on, for "cold" coolant. I have not seen this on cars before. Kinda interesting.

I am also thinking of doing clear bra on front and rear. Mainly cause we drive to the city and I figured if couldn't hurt to have a little extra protection. Any suggestions on this? Should I get a pre-cut kit or just a roll? Thoughts?

1st - Nice car. I looked at em when my GF needed a car a couple months ago, but she wanted SUV and liked the size of the CRV over the CX-5 which drove nicer lol.

I love the 6's in 6MT. Looking good!

Ok, now onto the coolant light - I cant recall but does your car have an actual coolant temp gauge? (Previous Honda Tech here) the newer vehicles dont have coolant temp gauges. They have 2 lights, 1 is blue for cold coolant, which should go off after it gets to temp obviously, and the other is for Overheat Condition. If you have an actual gauge AND the cold coolant light, I would be mildly surprised and at the same time confused. Reasoning is, as long as the coolant is withing operating temperature, there is no need for a gauge. Just an idiot light for if there is a problem, and by the time it is a problem, the dash usually lights up like a christmas tree.

I had an Expel clear bra put on my vette and I'm very happy with it after nearly 3 years.  Still looks great.  The original 3m stuff tends to yellow, but may be better than it used to be.

First mod tonight, emblems shaved.

Now need to figure out how to make the front plate look better.  They already drilled holes and the wifey isn't keen on no front plate so I have to run one.  Going to see if I can make it a little more clean looking.
