A few weeks ago when I was swapping car spots a small puff of smoke escaped from the driver's side footwell and the smell of burning electrical stuff was in the air. This is on a ls1 FD with 02 camaro ECU running speed density and it sits in the passenger footwell. The car ran fine and none of the fuses were blown. Yesterday I had to move the car again and now it won't fail the (untuned) MAF so it idles poorly and needs some throttle to stay alive. I scanned it with HPT and it can't read any codes or vehicle info - not that there aren't any, just that the ECU isn't responding to that request for information. It was able to see some sensor information, though. Haven't had any time to look at it beyond that, but the magic smoke escaping is the likely source of the problem.
Is one of the constant or switched +12V responsible for keeping that part of the ECU powered? The FD is going to sit for another 2 weeks before I have a chance to work on it. Ideally, knowing the pin on the ecu responsible for this would help to track it down.
