DC Auto Show - My Top 3
« on: January 31, 2016, 01:50:41 PM »
I went to the DC Auto show last night and thought it would be good thread idea to list my top 3 picks.

#3 - Chevy Corvette

The Corvette makes the list because of my own personal biases. Best thing about the car were the seats. The cockpit has a nice simplistic structure which I love. Nevertheless, the plastic pieces feel extremely cheap, and they are not nice to the touch and sound. Sure, it has a lot of horsepower, looks decent - but because of the price I am emotionally indifferent to it: I will never spend $80 000 for this car! I would gladly replace the #3 position with the Jaguar F-Type.

Image above looks better than what it actually looks and feels.

#2 - Mercedes Benz E63 Station Wagon

This car was simply amazing inside and out. I would spend the $ 70 000 and not feel guilty about it at all. When in the driver seat, one would literally feel like the king of the road. Damn! For me the car comes to a close second.

This car best justifies the price tag from any other car.

#1 - Dodge Challenger Hellcat

Best looking car in my opinion. The red paint, smooth surfaces, and the supercharger sticking above the fender line just did it for me. I do not know what MSRP was for the car but it has much more presence than the Corvette.

Local dealer has a Hellcat on the floor for $62K.  Sat in it the other day - but no test drive - the weather was pretty bad that day.

That is not bad at all - relative to other cars. I belive the top end Camaros are in the ~ 75k range.

Wagon. No need for mincing words.

I love wagons.
And the AMG C63 is ohhhh so worth it. I cant recall does that still have the M157 5.5 bi-turbo in it? Or did they change it. Because engine is MEAN.

I know the E series does - not sure about the C. Either way that Benz Wagon is a beast.

I'm a bit confused by your prices. An E63 is not $75k.. It is over $100k. A standard Corvette (z51 even) is in the low-mid $60k-$70k range depending on options, not $80k. The Vette pricing is similar to the Hellcat.

I think the C series has the 4.0 V8 Bi-Turbo. like 475hp-510 or something. Still no slouch. Sadly Merc's trans's kinda lag.

I want the E63 S 590hp. Pure sex on wheels.

Thanks for keeping me honest. I must have been looking at  the C63. The Corvette was 80K I don't know.

Cool, that sounds about right for the c63. The Vette certainly could have been $80k with a bunch of options. They can be had much cheaper without heated and cooled cupholders and the like. :)

Interesting about the Vette, but I would still buy a Z06 in a heartbeat if I had 100K.  Did you sit in the ATS-V or CTS-V those are the ultimate daily driver in my eyes.

Personal choice, but, that #2 - Mercedes Benz E63 Station Wagon looks like an ugly duckling to me, I much prefer the CTSV wagon for comparison.

The new vette is such a nicer ride than the C6, the auto is amazing, but there are so many of them that every time I go to a local car show I see a parking lot full of C7's and C7 Z06's ... not sure I could pay that much for what everyone else has.

Hellcat, I agree with you there, the Hellcats are nice cars to spend time in and that power/torque curve is the nicest I have seen in an affordable OEM car, add the wonderful auto and 100k mile warranty and this is a nice alternative for a daily.  I could not find a charger hellcat at the right price last year so I bought an ODM blue mod'd CTSV sedan (could not find a wagon for the right price :( ), still regretting that decision a little.

Which year do you have?  I want to get one after my TL dies, but seems like they are still pricey
