Newbie FD LS7 from GA
« on: March 28, 2014, 10:54:20 PM »
Well I have been lingering around here long enough I might as well introduce myself. I bought the 93 FD last Dec from Chicago. A guy named Raz owned the car in case anyone knows him or the car. It is a silver touring that originally had red interior but was swapped out for a black R1 interior. The car was sold as a roller after numerous blown rotary engines (the last motor when running was a RB25). The firewall was professionally notched about 3" deep and over 1' wide to accommodate the Skyline motor and looks awesome. This should be a definite plus for the LS swap. The car was complete minus headlights, engine, and gauges and had 74K miles and zero rust or major body damage. I will try and snap some pics over the next few days if the weather cooperates.

New items installed by prior owner zero miles
Complete Powerflex bushing kit
Pillow bushings
Tien MonoFlex Coilovers
NSK Front hubs
SKF rear wheel bearings
ARP wheel studs
Improved Racing front & rear sway bar links
Stoptech rotors EBC pads front & rear & SS brake lines
Jegs proportioning valve
Powdercoated black front and rear subframes (Too bad I have no use for the front as it is spotless)

Paid 4K for the car. I thought is was a fair price considering it had about 5k in brand new parts installed w/o labor cost.

Items purchased so far for swap. New LS7 block,  factory LS7 rotating assembly except for forged Weisco 4.130 12:1 pistons,  LS7 heads with upgrade bronze valve guides and Manley SS ex valves.  A T56 from a 06 GTO with a ACH 6 puck clutch. I lucked out with having Rob Walden from Lamar Walden Automotive as my neighbor a few doors down.  Rob will be building/spec the motor and tuning it. I will be running the Samberg swap kit with the Ronin 8.8. I purchased JimLabs old 240 mph gauges form Chip the other month. That is about it for now, although I can't control myself from buying more goodies when a deal pops up.

I am new to the RX7 scene and have been w/o a toy for way too long. Used to have a few 5.0s and did a full frame off restoration on a matching numbers 1969 L89 4 speed Camaro about 12 years ago. I wish I never would have sold that car. Anyways, I am enjoying the forum tremendously and looking forward to learning from all and meeting some more RX7 enthusiast. Oh, and the name is Jon.

That sounds like a great price for a clean roller, nice.
