Color: Red
Chassis Mileage: ~56,000 (~10,000 with conversion)
Engine Mileage: ~30,000 (installed with ~20,000)
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
*Car will not be parted out.

History: The car (when it had a rotary engine) was stolen and driven into a freshwater pond in Kansas in 2006 - the thief tried to hide it.  The car was recovered 2 days after being reported stolen.  The chassis was then sold at an auction in Kansas.  I purchased the chassis from TEAMAFX on RX-7 forum.  The car was completely stripped, cleaned and restored over a year and a half.  All vital electronics replaced from various parts car, including but not limited to, relays, circuits, fuses, fuse boxes, wiring, steering column controls and all electronics. The entire interior except for the dash board has been removed for weight savings (all plastic and sound absorbing material).  The care was originally an automatic transmission touring edition with a tan interior.  The car has a Carfax report with the last reported service in late 2006 @ ~46,000 miles.  The car was registered again in late-2007 in Texas with a rebuilt salvage title and was road legal (i.e. all lights, gauges, brakes, blinkers, etc. and passed the Texas emissions inspection).  The body is very clean and the paint is great.  The front bumper, front quarter panels, mirrors, and rear flares were recently painted.  The car has never been in any type of accident and has a completely straight frame.   I have put about 10,000 miles on the car since it was restored/converted and it's been such a blast to drive.  The car was recently tuned by Patrick Sparks at Quality Motorsports in Dallas.  Although my goal was to enter the car into a few SCCA road racing events I never had the time.  The car has done a few drivers edge events but mostly used at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, Texas as a weekend race car.  I have driven the car 3 times over the past 2 years so I have decided to sell it.  I was transferred from Texas to Pennsylvania for work and now back to Houston so owning the car does not make sense anymore.  Hate to see it go, especially now that it is fully modified as a race car, but it needs an owner who has time to drive it.

Conversion:  LS1 / T-56 FD RX-7 race car.  The car was built by Brian Hinson in 2007 in Alabama with the intention of being a track car.  The car spent 8 months with Hinson Supercars during the conversion.  No corners cut when building this car and professional race car design shops have been used for all modifications.  Maintenance references from shops available upon request (2 professional race car mechanics since conversion).  Also, Brian Hinson knows the car very well and is a good reference for anyone interested in learning more about the car’s construction.
Interior: Fully stripped with custom silver paint.  Paint was sprayed after installing the roll cage for very clean and professional appearance.  Epoxy based paint to eliminate any chipping/scratches.  False aluminum floor on drivers side for heat shield and foot rest.  All air conditioning, fans and electronics removed.

Written Recommendation:
I have inspected the car as it currently sits and have found no issues that would keep it from being driven/raced as is.  The front brake pads are approximately 30-40% and front rotors are starting to crack but do not pose a problem at this time.  Tires are in good shape with at least 75% remaining.  I performed much of the recent work and maintenance on the car including interior prep for paint and installing the seat/harness.  I replaced the PS hoses with quality parts rated to 2500psi with crimped ends and installed the new transmission/clutch.  I also engineered, built and tested the fuel surge tank.  It's an aluminum tank that sits inside the stock tank with three check balls to allow fuel in but not out.  I drained the tank dry, added two gallons of gas and did five laps around the track to make sure it worked properly.  With the tires up to temp and running a fast pace there were no signs of fuel starvation even in long high G-load left hand turns.  I also wired the fuel pump to a switch in the dash for both safety and to provide better voltage to the pump.  I performed a setup on the car to get it to 50% cross weights, no rake and proper alignment and ride height.  Specs can be provided to the new owner if requested.  I also tidied the wiring under the dash, installed the new center dash plate, wired the kill switch, fuel pump and reverse lockout switches into the plate.

Hi,
I just came across this post. Do you have more pics? Has this car been sold? I only ask because I recently bought a fd v8 conversion street car and I want to compare it to a race car mod. I'm particularly interested in the interior.

What information are you looking for? This car was one of two built to these specs and I bought the other one.
