Health forces sale of my professionally built no-expense spared RX7 rocketship.

The goal for this build was to have a streetable car with 1,000HP+ and 200mph+ top speed. The build was originally started by a doctor who brought the car to Culver Auto Specialties in Alabama for a custom fabricated twin-turbo build. It already had a Hinson LS subframe, Samberg rear differential mount and Cobra 8.8 rear end. Culver’s mechanical upgrades consisted of all new drivetrain parts including 416 CI LS3 block, Molnar crank and rods, Race Tec pistons, twin 67mm Precision turbos, custom fabricated hot and cold side with air to water intercooler, Holley Terminator ECU, Holley electronic boost control, 120 GPH injectors, Jakes Performance 4L80 transmission with transbrake, DSS axels, air conditioning and street style roll cage. When Culver finished the mechanicals, the doctor had over $50k in upgrades, not including the car. On its initial dyno at Culver the car made 958RWHP and 963 LB FT of torque. They told me that initial dyno was at 16-18lbs of boost and the car was built for 20-22lbs and had a lot left in it.

The RX7 was drivable at that point, however still needed plenty of work. I acquired the car a couple years ago when the doctor lost interest in spending more money to complete the build and decided to sell it. Having built and raced lots of cars, this RX7 was right up my alley. My plan was to build the car for the street as well as half-mile race events.

It desperately needed more traction, so I began by installing a Ronin Speedworks wide-body kit to accommodate wider rear tires, added Davis self-learning programmable traction control, reduced the 8.8 Cobra rear gears from 3:55 to 3:08 and had the rear Rays Gram Light rims custom widened and balanced by Weldcraft in Detroit. During the wide-body conversion, I added Seibon carbon fiber front fenders, hood, deck lid with polycarbonate glass, carbon fiber door panels, carbon diffuser, carbon spoiler, a one-off carbon fiber front bumper and deleted the sunroof. I also added $3,000 Tillett SFI certified carbon fiber front seats along with 5 point race harnesses, Wilwood big-brake kit, Racepak IQ3 dash, Grannas Racing manual steering rack, Mighty Mouse catch-can system and an automatic Cold-Fire suppression system. To give the RX7 a sleeker look, the fuel fill door on the ¼ panel was eliminated and fuel fill relocated to the hatch channel.

To add to this unique build a Mastershift electronic shifter was added. It eliminates the need for a console mounted shifter and operates using shift paddles on the column. The car comes with a laptop with programs and instructions for the Holley ECU, Davis Traction Control, Racepak dash and Mastershift shifter. We all know quality high-performance parts don’t come cheap. I have copies of the receipts from Culver Auto for $44,608 plus $25,600 for additional new parts I purchased totaling over $70,000, and they do not include most of the labor or purchase of the vehicle.

The RX7 has very few miles since the build. It starts, runs and hauls ass. Based on your intended use it will need finishing touches. It is ready for your choice of paint or wrap. The cold-fire suppression system needs to be hooked up and filled (have all parts.) The vehicle should be dyno tuned for your desired use and fuel. The Davis Traction Control needs to be tuned. The interior trim out needs to be finished. I have boxes and boxes of additional parts that come with the car, including most of the ones needed to finish it. Unfortunately, at 65 years-old, some recent health issues prevent me from enjoying 200MPH blasts, so my loss will become someone else’s dream. I have the reserve set well below what I have in car and top bidder is likely to own the car. I welcome inspections in Tampa Bay area of Florida and I am happy to answer any questions I can.

Of course, given the nature of this build the car is sold as is, where is. I have no idea if it will pass emissions, if required in your state. Cash only, no trades. Seller reserves the right to end auction early. Bidders with 0 Ebay purchases must call seller prior to bidding or bids will be cancelled.

If I'm not mistaken this was the car I almost bought a few years ago.  It was white at the time.  Is it still available?  I see the ebay ad has expired.
