Simple question - which port is inlet on LS1 water pump
« on: September 25, 2016, 07:25:22 AM »
Believe it or not I can't find this information out. I looked on pirate4x4 but their pics contradict each other.

So which of the 2 ports on the LS1 water pump is the inlet (from heater) and which is the outlet (to heater)?

Bigger port toward front of engine is flow to the heater. Small is return.

Did you use the existing rhd heater hard pipe, if so the hose at the heater end is almost perfect for water pump to hard pipe?

Does it make any difference which direction the coolant flows through the heater core?

I think I routed my outlet to the outboard port at the firewall, just because the hose routing is cleaner.
My heater output isn't much in winter.  I had attributed it to the 170 degree t-stat not letting the motor get fully warmed up.

Should not make a difference the car should burp out any air bubbles.

No I didn't. Pretty sure there wasn't room for it unfortunately. I have got the hoses r nningbtoeard the front if the car then through the bumper support and then back along the frame rail to the heater.

flowing bottom up makes the heat work better when there are bubbles though.

I agree, but the tubes through the firewall are side by side.  Which one goes to the bottom?
