The 435 matches and is slightly faster than the outgoing M3 depending on the track. I would not be surprised if the SS was quicker stock for stock but when comparing the cars strictly on instruments you miss where the BMW really outshines other cars.
Also a cheap tune will put it as fast or faster than the SS. I would rate the seats on the 435 M Sport as a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale. Even on the longest trips. But tastes differ and I can't fault you for wanting a LS3 daily driver :)

And a SS with a nearly drop on LSA blower would destroy the tuned 435... :yay: If you are just going to have a street bruiser and want some space inside, an American muscle sedan is hard to beat. If you want a refined driving experience, get something else.

Great driving dynamics are nice, but don't necessarily make a car faster on a track.. Case in point, a Mustang GT is about as fast around most tracks as an M3. We could probably all agree that the M3 is a better all around driving car.

No doubt but those mods are extremely different price points lol.
A daily driver to me is a pleasurable and comfortable car that also holds its own in the sporty department. A weekend car that I never have to be stuck inside on long trips is my bonkers car. I got the 435 because it does everything well even if it isn't topping out all others in instrument testing. The Xdrive is awesome in the snow :)

Although a 996 Turbo might fit the bill for a track beast/daily driver in your price point. Although the consumables will be $$$. And the back seats are more of a novelty.

A used LSA blower is ~ $500 by the way :) used LSA injectors are a couple hundred bucks. Most of the hard parts are pretty inexpensive.

Classy needs to haul kids so he's looking at a 5 series or larger. I have 2 friends with 2011/2012 550i M Sports. They are pretty impressive for what they are. One took his to Willow Springs with us once and it did very well.

Without kids, a turbo 996 or 997 would be the ticket.

Been working 14 hour days all week, been hard to post up...  I haven't even seen my 300 since Monday...

I am hoping to finish this job tomorrow and that way I can pull the parts off the 300 and go and make a deal on the SS or at least start it.

Now I am by no means an expert about the SS, but the 14's did not have a magnetic suspension where the 15's have 3 mode mag suspension.  You said it right that I am looking for a street bruiser to haul the kids in.  I got bored of the hp in my SRT, but couldn't justify  $10k+ just to go to 600hp with the 300...  I will get that with the SS for about $3k.  I am looking at an auto, I love me a manual, but in a daily kid hauler I would rather have an auto, especially in Houston traffic.

I just wish it had adaptive cruise control...

I had a CTS-V Wagon for a week through work, and I absolutely loved it for our small family trip (one child, and a dog) but I can see why you wouldn't want to put 3 kids back there. I also got an SS through work, and it felt very similar to my G8, obviously, but i was a much bigger fan of the looks of a G8 GXP. The SS is how ever more refined. The ride, trans, etc all improved. If you have the budget its very much worth it, you should still consider the manual, or wait to see what improvements 2016 has ;) GM is integrating adaptive cruise into many of the new vehicles.

Also a cheap tune will put it as fast or faster than the SS

And then a quick cheap tune on the SS will put it right back in front.

We've had really good results with the SS, I think they are excellent cars.  And I for one like the styling much better than a 300... But then again I think 300s are ugly as fu.

unless you own a turbo ls9 rx7 you do not know what the fuck you are talking about.

I agree with you, the off the shelf tuning is netting 40hp/tq.

As for the G8, I have an appreciation for them, but I like the looks of the SS better.  As for the manual vs auto stuff, I am really leaning toward auto because it makes it so much easier as a DD to use.  It also means I don't have pauses in boost to shift

Well I test drove the SS, it was alot slower than the 300, but I expected that.  I am sure a LS9 cam and a tune would make me feel alot better about that issue.  The dealers were douche bags and didn't want to work numbers at all, so I walked.  I am looking at one in Austin, but I am going to try and sell my car on my own to make the deal better.
