It's on ebay too. Not sure what he's smoking but that car is incredibly clean. 34k will get a used turbo Carrera or ZO6. Hell it will get a Viper or a top tier turbo RX7 swap.

yeah 944 isa. terrible car but they have an oddly strong market .that being said most Porsche guys are nuts about OEM and the likelihood of it selling is nil. theres an LS3 swapped 996 here local the guy cant seem to give away.

I had a couple 944 turbos, 86 dual purpose Track/street car and a '89 turbo S. They handle very well with 50/50 weight balance and were pretty refined compared to what else was available for similar money 20 years ago, you closed the door and it was a solid thunk. The seller doesn't specify what the base car was and it just looks way too tart for my taste. The lack of detail about the car is a little disconcerting, maybe he's hoping for a impulse buyer with a lot of extra money laying around, a lot of baby boomers are getting inheritances.

FYI,  944 is the winning-est P-car in history.

That said Porschephiles are pretty particular.  The market for this is probably more limited than the swapped Mazda.

So a couple years ago, I had a Porsche Owner's Club racer tell me he's ditching his GT2 to build a 944 that's faster.

It took me a couple minutes to stop laughing, but fast forward to fall 2013 and it shows up at my shop with a built Gen3 LSx:

GT2 front suspension, GT3 RS rear subframe and suspension, factory (upgraded) 944 trans.  Very decent aero, Racepak everything, ~2400lbs wet, and I think it's faster than my car around WSIR.

Weird cars, but kinda cool

That car is a trip. you said he's in the POC, Porsche owners club, which is where he probably runs the car. I'm in PCA, Porsche Club of America and after somebody showed up with a 914 that had a small block Chevy in it, they changed the rules to make it very clear that it had to be a Porsche with a Porsche engine, so a couple of people put 928 motors in 914's.

What's terrible about it?

I drove an 89' turbo (951) once and loved every minute, I'd buy one in a second...just not with an ls.

german cars are a bit polarizing. sone people think their comexity makes them good reliable car. I believe its quite the opposite. Ive owned a 944 and it was a turd. it was one of the last German cars i will ever own. but thats a bit subjective. they arent hard to find. they can be found quite easily on CL dead just like dead RX8s.

LSXREX, I can agree with you that the early NA 944's weren't that great, they had steel suspension components like a arms and trailing arms, basically they were 924's with an updated body. The models up to 85 and a half had that funky shoe box gauge cover straight out of a 924, and it seems a lot of them were sold with Burgundy Interiors The 944 turbo was a different story, aluminum a arms and trailing arms, higher spring and roll rates, Brembo brakes etc. Their best version was the 88 and 89 Turbo S, pretty refined from the factory, underpowered by today's standards, but being a turbo engine all you had to do was crank up the boost, with a few mods they were and are pretty good track cars. Like most Porsches, pretty expensive compared to the competition, 86 turbos were 30k, 89 turbo S's were $54k. Both of the turbos I had were used, but pretty reliable and a lot of fun to drive. The '86 had wheel fans in the front, a full cage, race seats, and air vents to push extra air through the intercooler, people were always checking it out.
