FC LS1, anyone use a C5 batwing pan?
« on: January 04, 2015, 10:23:38 PM »
I am collecting parts to build an autocross/HPDE FC with an LS/TKO. I have a spare C5 batwing pan and would like to use it if I can. Has anyone ran a batwing pan in an FC with any success? Thanks.

If the front of the pan is taller an a Camaro one http://www.improvedracing.com/tech/F-body-camaro-firebird-LS1-oil-pan-dimensions.php It will hit the rack forcing you to raise the engine.  Improvedracing is a sponsor here and has a exceptional baffle system.

I don't think it will fit... though I've never tried so I can't say for sure.  I don't believe I have seen anyone successfully use it either.  Here's a nice little page that documents the pan dimensions, I think the 5/8" depth compared to the FBody is going to give the biggest problems.

Yeah, you'd have to raise the engine.  I have at least 1-2 batwings in the garage if you want one.   One came off a 900 RWHP Lingy TT Vette, so it has street cred.  :P

Do you have a spare rotary also? Maybe you should try to use that.

Thanks for the advice. I will source an F-body pan and use the Improved baffle, thats a nice product.

I'm not sure if the spare rotary comment applied to me or not?
