manifold cover idea looks nice.  may help keep some of the heat out of the top of the engine bay too

That was also part of the idea. I may try to find something to have them coated in or even some kind of heat barrier to apply to the underside.

Yes there is a intercooler. It's made of cardboard and reinforced with duct tape.
