Soooooo, this car is back at my house. Transmission issues are finally resolved thanks to RPM Transmissions last year. Turns out the clutch disc had a machining error. Annnnyway, Drew got it out to resolve some lingering issues and brought it by.
Today I:
Unclogged the crap in the rear hatch drain holes (car has been in a barn for the better part of 1.5 years), replaced the 3.0 Taurus fan with a 3.8L Taurus fan and wired that up, adjusted the clutch release position and checked out the temperature issues it's having and some rough running behavior.
Temp issue was twofold; one, the relays for the fan are dying, no big deal, already have a Volvo relay ready to go in and two, the water pump isn't moving sufficient coolant at idle. Temp creeps up at idle and if you rev it to ~1900 RPM, temp drops right back to normal. Soo, needs a new waterpump.
Rough running (mostly at idle) seems to be in the tune. I think the fuel pump was weak when the old tune was done, and now that the wiring and pump are healthy, it's pig rich at idle.
Drew is going to get a water pump and bring me the Volvo relay to resolve those, then it just needs the tune, detail and an alignment and it's all set to rock.
