Generally speaking NA rotaries can be reliable if you keep oil in them and don't overheat them. I have no experience with turbo ones.
Friends of mine and myself have had roughly ten first gen RX-7s with over 150k on the original motors without issue. I have personally owned three 84-85 GSL-SE's over 200k on the original motors. One at 280k and was still running when I sold it.
I DD'd one for 6 years and was only left stranded twice. Once the rear end blew up (after making nasty noise for a couple weeks) and once when a the coolant temp sensor came unplugged (runs full rich).
