Dragging this thread back. Does anybody have info or a link to what ring gears came in what/ which ones are interchangeable between the different diffs? I broke the teeth on my ring gear (S4 TII), but I have what I think is another 4.10 gear out of an NA lsd...thinking I might try to swap them out.

Yeah I've  heard removing the front sway helps, now that I've heard it more than once I'll give it a shot. Easy enough to undo the links and tie them up at the track

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels / LT1 FC power steering
« on: February 27, 2014, 08:02:52 PM »
So I got a few questions.

First, my problem. I seem to be "boiling over" my fluid out of the top of my reservoir after a fair amount of driving. I've only had it happen a few times. Not sure if it was my imagination but it felt like I was starting to lose some power, it got a little bit harder to steer. Seeing if anybody on here has had the issue. It's a drift car so it has a lot of steering imput thrown at it. Not sure if it's somehow getting too hot and actually boiling out, or if I've got some sort of valving issue with the rack where it's pushing out more than it's pulling in.

Also, what fluid are you guys running in these?

Thanks in advance.

For my next event I'm gonna dial in a bunch of toe out and see where that gets me.

where are you putting poly bushings?

I plan on putting them in the diff first, I can hear that thing banging around back there pretty good during clutch kicks. PBM's new rear subframe bushings with the pivoting balls look kind of enticing, but I want to see a few people use them first and get some feedback before I do that.

Seems like I've got most of the "hard parts" I need...looks like I need to do some investigating and get a good alignment setup that works for that car/the tracks I run at. Which I figured was the case, but I wanted to see if there was anything big i was missing.

Depending what you're doing, the PBM ones work great with the adjustable centerlink..that's what my car has and for now it gives me more than enough adjustability even though the PBM ones aren't adjustable.

Also a cheap alternative is to measure what you need, and get a good welder to cut your stock links and shorten them. I had that for a little while. worked fine.

Remember these "high end" aka pro drift cars are making tons of power. 750whp+ and the dudes making 750 are the UNDERPOWERED cars out there. Most dudes are at 900-1200 range. Crazy I know. So it that situation yes, more grip is good. But I'm working with a measly 330ish.

For me to have fun with other cars on track, I need to slow it way down. Right now, with it's current setup I need to drive it way fast to make it work...

Gonna try a few more ideas on the rear. Gotta shim the diff, and while I'm at it put poly bushings back there keep some of that movement down.

I did a bit of searching and couldn't find a whole lot that I'm looking for.

What are you guys doing for an alignment? I've done a bunch to my car and it still wants to grip up really bad. As of right now I've got some junk coilovers (new ones coming soon) DTSS eliminators, adjustable rear center link, short PBM inner control arm links and currently no rear sway bar. -2.5* of camber in front, about .25 toe out in front. About -.5* rear camber and I can't remember what I had the rear toe set at, but I kept trying to give it more toe out in hopes it'd loosen it up a bit.

I was thinking about putting in the spherical bearings to solid mount the rear arms and get rid of the eccentric  bolts and get some adjustable rear toe arms.

This thing is like a rocket and carries a ton of speed and as I said, wants to grip up and straighten up pretty bad. Still has a touch of that snap oversteer stuff going on.

Any thoughts?

Nah I appreciate the comment. I've had them sell for around that price rage in similar condition before. I should add I DO have a matching set of wheels for it as well as the center for the steering wheel. Obviously not in the pictures. I might get better luck on the club, because you're absolutely right that most on here aren't looking for the rotary stuff. However this is why the "OBO" stands.

I'm not going to sit here and tout "i know what i have blah blah blah" but as I said it's a rust free chassis and at least in the area I'm in, it's hard to find these in good shape in terms of rust etc... If people on here thinking i'm way out of the ballpark, then let me know. I'm pretty chill and open to offers.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi all,

Selling my old Red FC. No time to mess with it anymore, as I have bought another FC as a track car. So this one has to go!

Chassis has 202xxx miles on it. In very good shape. NO rust. This car had some sort of aftermarket underbody coating applied when it was new. Spent much of it's life in the south. I believe I am the second owner. Bought it from a member on here with a locked up engine. Pulled the engine from one of my old cars to swap in it. The engine has somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-70k on it.

Interior is mostly there and in good shape. Needs a few trim pieces.

As you'll see in the pics it needs paint. Also before I bought it somebody hit it in the door/fender area. Easy enough fix, there is no structure damage behind it.

I really want to keep this and make it a good street car, but my priorities and funds need to go elsewhere.

I daily drove this thing for a few months, and after that drove it pretty much every weekend. Runs great.

Doesn't need much to be a really sweet car.

Asking 2500 obo. Will consider trading for a 16 or 18 foot car trailer. Let me know if you want more pics of something or have any questions.  Thanks

The Lounge / TRUCKS..Diesel ones.
« on: September 17, 2013, 11:02:20 AM »
So I'm in the market for a diesel truck in the coming months. Looking for some opinions on what's good.

Basically looking for something that can handle being a daily driver for awhile, that will be towing a car trailer with car and tools etc.. probably at least once a month.

Seeing who on here has first hand experience, meaning people that have owned them or mechanics on the etc..to see where the issue areas on them are.

I'm looking at mid 2000s GMs, 03-04 Rams, and mid 2000s Fords.I hear both very good and very bad things about each of these. So I was hoping to clear that up.

I'm leaning more towards the Rams just because of the 6bt, although i hear the auto trans' on them aren't as stout as one might like.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
