Cars for sale / WTB: FD Shell
« on: December 28, 2020, 10:13:57 PM »
Anyone have a decent FD shell for sale? Would be interested in fire/theft or minor damage (front end only) cars also. Can be bare, i don't need interior, subframes, doors, hatch... any of it... just a bare shell.

Let me know what you have  :drive:

Can you pm me some pics of the differences between the standard FD mats. The photobucket pics aren't working

General Tech / Full bolt-in replacement manual steering for the FD3S

I have been working with a chassis shop to develop this bolt-in manual rack and pinion for the FD3S, and its ready to go! After having no luck trying to find a good manual rack option, then going with a dry power rack I wanted something better.

These are available in a 20:1 ratio for drag guys or a 14:1 quick ratio for the road race/scca guys. These have more travel than the factory rack so you will gain a slightly tighter turning radius as well. These are a 100% bolt in replacement rack and work with the factory outer tie rod ends!

I will have these ready to ship in about 4 weeks. I have to disassemble the racks from the factory and have the tie rods cut down and rethreaded for the FD outer tie rod. I had 10 mounts made up, so once they are gone I am not sure when I will do another run.

One great feature is the mount setup, this will allow you to clock the rack so that you can actually gain clearance for different engine combinations.

I am taking deposits on the first 10 racks here:

Cool.  Do you think the FD chassis has better drag race potential than the MKIV Supra?

As far as doing the most with the least upgrades, i'd say hell no... for example, in my Supra i ran 8.36 @ 175 on the stock manual transmission, stock ring gear / rear end (with a spool), 100% stock suspension components other than coilovers. Car had A/C, P/S, basically full street car. Full steel bodied car other than a fiberglass hatch, and all glass. The FD has advantages in the weight department for sure.

Now, if we are talking race chassis.... a backhalved FD would be hard to beat.

Not that it's necessary to be added, but what tires are you running?

I'm pleasantly surprised at the weight of this after the swap.  Did you do anything specific in an effort to shed weight?  Are you running air conditioning?

I have the 2JZ a/c compressor on the motor, but no lines or condenser in the car. Planning on it, just havent gotten there.

Almost 9's on PUMP 93... on a little 3 liter :)

Very mildly built 2JZ. rods, pistons, cams. 64mm turbo. pump 93 and 18psi

I have a set of HKS Drag coilovers for next year, should let the car squat better and get out of the hole. Running a Samberg 8.8 setup and the factory toyota 6-speed.
