end of an era, hope you got a good amount of coin for this car.

Hello, this may be a long shot but looking for details from anyone who has or knows someone that ran a QA1 front suspension setup for their FD. Specifically coilover and spring size as well as any custom fitment needed (I believe I've read custom spacers were needed to push the spring up high enough to clear the upper control arms). If not QA1 specific, any other options out there for double adjustable geared towards drag days, not the track (e.g. I'm not spending $5k on a set of Ohlins for the drag strip)?

I have the only known front sent of QA1 for FD that samberg made and both rear sets, no strut perch adapter needed. The springs that came with the samberg "kit" were spec-ed wrong. If you already have aftermarket coilovers that you can take a top hat from you can build a QA1 coilover for your front suspension from parts you can buy. QA1 strut, 2 spaces to center the strut per side, correct 8in spring, QA1 stud mount, and donor top hats.

The rears are a different story and you will sacrifice tire clearance unless you dissemble and weld to the strut a mount. you can side mount it to the upper a-arm and not modify the strut but my OCD doesn't like how it looks. If I wasn't already the owner of the rear kits I would just get the importdragsolutions kit for the rear.

For the cost of 4 rear pillowball bushes I was thinking that I had just as well put that money towards some aftermarket rear control arms.

Has anyone used the Battle Version ones (J-auto sell them) for any length of time?

Would there be any concerns having the fitted to a street car (such as the bearings wearing quickly etc.)?

I see you went elsewhere but I was one of the first buyers of the battle version RLCA. It has afforded us the most tire clearance vs other RLCA replacements. It also removes the trailing arm pillow ball failure point, that pillow ball failure is what causes most pillow ball failure wrecks.

I've sung nothing but praises about the product it was night and day with respect to wheel hop but that may have been from worn pillow balls.

You need to make 2 categories, auto v manual. I would short time like this way better than for my whp since there wasn't a time brake for shifting. For those who are running sticks trying to game this time less shifts the better during the mph window.

data from 8 yrs ago, this was on ~18 psi on our sbe ls3 so around 800whp
60-130 4.25s
100-150 4.19s

if they publish it they wont be able to make $$ on the displays / dashes as you can do a pi dash for pennies then.

"pennies?" as in less than one dollar...LOL

I get your point, but the Holley dashes do a lot more than display data.

Andrew

my brother in law is running a pi dash with his mega-squirt car and its all in one: data logging, dash, and he can flip over to tuner studio at any time. If I was Holley I'd be doing the same (not publishing the protocol) to capitalize on the dash sales. I have seen some people on LS1 tech starting to do this with the Holleys by way of an old Microsoft surface tablet.

General Tech / Re: Looking for suggestions on how to sell my LS RX-7

Sounds like to me you need some minor but painstaking electrical work to make the swap complete. Unfortunately these cars will always net more money in a part out vs complete. Also sounds like you don't have access to tools at home to do a part out so your best bet is sell complete since the cost of parting to sell the parts will be prohibitive. You are so close to enjoying the car, I would be mad as hell at the shop you took it to for not knowing part incompatibility. Minor gasket issues are common when you are using not new components, they are cheap and easy todo yourself with hand tools. Honestly you should consider bringing it to a shop that has done a few ls rx7s and let them go over the common pain points and polish it. Been in your shows with what I called a cursed chassis, swapped everything to a new chassis and it ran great.

the only 3d printed frame that i found was for RHD. for the price oem with new oem leather is hard to beat.

and if I try to make one it'll probably take me an entire day before im happy with the fitment.

how have you been? I saw you bought david's door sill's and he signed them. thats hilarious.

staying busy with work. putting together a 2nd rx7 that is a tame street car.

What type of seal or sealant is recommended for this job?

Some sort of UV resistant trim sealer. I used just generic rtv black and it held up for 3 years till I removed it.
