General Tech / FC A/C fitting sizes?
« on: November 22, 2018, 08:50:20 PM »
I have a 1990 GXL with a 1998 LS1 and have decided to make my own a/c lines. I am using the stock RX7 evaporator and condenser with the stock LS1 compressor with line adapters and the Jeep line dryer and LS pressure switch Half Spec suggests on his FD a/c line build thread. Below are the fitting sizes I know and need help finding.

Condenser out to dryer 5/8 x 16
Dryer in and out 5/8 x 16
Evaporator High side 5/8 x 16
These were confirmed by trying a stock line on the dryer. I have confirmed the dryer male fitting is 5/8 from the manufacturer web site.

Compressor out adapter 3/4 - 16
Compressor in adapter 7/8 x 14
These are the new adapter specs,

Condenser in from compressor?  mic says 19mm or .75 which is 3/4
Evaporator Low side to compressor?  mic says 22mm or .86mm is slightly less than 7/8

I would like to confirm these two fitting sizes before ordering 19 mm and 22 mm bead lock fittings. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Troy

General Tech / FC S5 A/C

I have been searching for information on wiring a FC series 5 air condition system. I found many threads on Pez’s wiring harness. Unfortunately none explain the connections or   The relays needed. There is also a GM pressure sensor that needs to be installed from what I am reading. I could use some info on that also. My current set up is a 90 GXL with a 98 LS1 compressor Using  The stock condenser and a new  stock  dryer.  I have a local shop to build the lines but need the info on the GM fitting.   Any help is appreciated.

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels / Wheel and Tire question
« on: May 19, 2018, 01:58:46 PM »
A drag thread shows some guys with 250/50/16 tires on the rear and 225/50/16 on the front with stock wheels.
I purchase for the Rear 250/50/16 Toyo Proxe TQ and for the Front 225/50/16 Toyo Proxes T1R

From what I have read, stock wheels are 16x7 +40

If I change to 16x8 wheels what offset should I look for? +20 +25

I have a 1990 GXL Stock suspension and I don't want to roll my fenders.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Drivetrain / LS1 injector and harness questions
« on: January 15, 2018, 06:49:51 PM »
I have a 1998 LS1 from a Firebird that I'm installing in a 1990 RX7. It has been decked and cleaned. Crank turned and original rods trued and pistons reused. Original bore. It has a 228/230 cam with 112 lsa and 799 heads that have been milled .020 with mild porting.

I have the stock 1998 manifold and injectors on the engine.

I have the stock harness and ECU but was advised to purchase a different ECU so the tuning would not be as difficult.

I purchased a 2000 Tahoe DBC ECU and Harness.

I also have a 2005 Tahoe intake with injectors from another project.

 My questions are,

If I use the 2000 ECU and harness with the 1998 injectors will the injector conectors fit?

If not, Is there a way to use the 2005 injectors in the 98 intake with the 2000 harness?

Should I get larger injectors to provide better performance with this set up? Suggestions?

Anyone here do the LS harness mod. I would like it extended to put the ECU in the passenger dash? I see Ebay offers a service for $275 with an ECU flash but I am unsure of using them.

Not looking to go to the LS6 intake right now. Just trying to get it running.
This is a street car to play with. Maybe NOS in the future but not now.

Parts WTB / a/c suction discharge line
« on: September 25, 2017, 08:48:06 PM »
I'M Looking for an a/c line that goes to the compressor on a 1998 Firebird. This is a suction/discharge line. Looking for used because I'm going to have to cut it to make lines for my 1990 FC. If someone has a premade FC a/c line I'd be interested in buying them.

General Tech / Re: FC LS1 engine upgrade questions
« on: April 29, 2017, 09:56:22 PM »
Got a set of 799 heads from an 07 Tahoe. Going to do a head cam package from Texas speed. 228R 112 LSA   CNC port the heads, reuse stock valves, new springs.
Should I mill the heads to raise compression and what head gasket should I buy?
Is it necessary to replace lifters?
Need to know to get the correct push rods with the TSP package.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Also just got a 2800-3200 stall lock up torque converter.

General Tech / FC LS1 engine upgrade questions
« on: April 07, 2017, 07:28:09 PM »
I have a 1990 GXL I purchased with no engine or trans. I had a 1998 Firebird that I just pulled the LS1 and 4L60E trans from. The car had 128000 miles and ran good. So far I have purchased
Melting high pressure oil pump
LS2 timing chain and new guide
Front Gasket set
Oil pan gasket
Rear main seal and gasket
Trans filter and gasket
Complete Granny's kit including radiator, driveshaft and A/C relocation brackets
New Taurus fan
Volvo relay switches
Corvette fuel filter
Manual rack (used)
A/C lines and condenser (used)
FC Auto shifter assembly (used)
Trans cooler
Headers from a member off a FC

I have not started to assemble anything yet. Engine is on stand and harness is out to be modified and computer flashed. Traded old Firebird rear end for the harness service and tuning when the build is complete. Been dealing with medical issues so I've been era searching and buying parts.

My question is before I install the engine, What would you guys suggest to invest money in. I have read, port the heads, buy 243 heads, put in a cam, put in a stall, change to a LS6 intake and the list goes on. What's the best bang for my buck?

I want this to be a DD with attitude. Not looking for 10 second car but not a slouch either. I do plan to install a TII rear when this one craps out.

Suggestions appreciated.

Parts WTB / Looking for a shock adjust motor for a 1990 GXL
« on: February 18, 2017, 04:15:43 PM »
I have a 1990 GXL and am looking for the motor that mounts to the top of the shock to adjust the suspension. It needs to be S5 because the S4 has a different plug.
Could also use a passenger side window switch.
