Electronics / Harness Wrapping?
« on: May 06, 2014, 09:11:49 PM »
Ok guys im at a cross roads here. I bought a bunch of techflex F6 split braid for my engine harness while this stuff is very nice for straight runs of cable it opens up on any bend. What have you guys used to wrap your harnesses. I even tried wrapping a section of it in self fusing tape but i do not like how it looks.

I decided to do a layer of second skin audio damplifier pro then a layer of closed cell foam on the floor board all the way to the trunk. I will be covering the trans tunnel with luxury liner from SS to control heat. I dont want to go through the mission of spraying the whole interior. I sprayed the whole floor with VHT epoxy paint and putting the SS damplifier over that.

Thanks for the info. Gonna replace the oem stuff pretty much exactly as it was. Then gonna run a layer of closed cell foam over everything.

Hmmm what car did you find one from i really wanted to put on something new but like it was mentioned above i have had no luck finding caps that big. I was thinking of shaping one out of bondo and sealing it with rtv for the holes where the front harness came in through but as far as the pcm i have been stumped.

I would like to know what you guys are using to seal the hole where the ls1 harness comes through. I want to try and get it plugged up now while I have the dash and all the AC components out.there are also two holes were the original front harness came into the chassis on the driver side that I no longer use it's about two and a half inches and other one is about inch and a half anyone know where I can find some plugs to plug Thoes up.

So this would be a superior product to dynamat extreme?
http://store.secondskinaudio.com/damplifier-pro-36-50-sq-feet-bulk-pack/

It looks like it is. I want to avoid the spray on kind and im not going for 100% coverage. Just replacing the oem stuff in the areas it was originally, then the spare tire area and the area from the bins back.

Weight is not a concern comfort and road noise is. Im tired of my leg and trans tunnel feeling like they are on fire. I want maximum sound deadening and tempature control. Im even droping the trans to design some heatsheilds with that expensive heat reflecting crap all through out the trans tunnel. Also looking at getting my stainless downpipes ceramic coated to further reduce in car temps. If not dynamat does lizard skin provide the same effect?

I bought a mega pack of dynamat xtreme to line my now oem sound deadening free floor boards and trunk. Now in the process of removing the SD there a bunch of nicks and scrapes where bare metal is exposed. Should i prime the whole floor board where the dynamat will go or just put the dynamat over it and be done with. I dont feel comfortable putting the dynamat over bare metal but if it will be ok because the adhesive on the dynamat i wont worry about it. Also in removing the stinger road kill the PO installed in the trunk he did not properly install the stuff and left pockets in the spare tire well now i have 2 fairly large rust holes fml....

Well the emergency setup worked well for about 2 gears lol. The problem was ghat i would have to wiggle the key a bit for it to start so i dissasembled the ignition switch and it had worn down a bit where i believe the starter gets power from i bent it back up a bit and 1.5 years later no issues. I do believe the fd ignition switch can handle it but either way im going push button start so the ign switch can take it easy lol.
