How the car currently sits:

Next on the agenda is get a driveshaft and put in a rollcage. Chances are, however, most of this will be put on hold until I graduate from school this December (mechanical engineering at UNC Charlotte) and start a career and get settled in where ever that may be. Progress is slow, it's been five years since I stripped it down, but eventually it'll get done.

Build Threads / 1993 Rx-7 Build Thread

My other build thread got all screwed up with some dead links and it's been a very long time, so just decided to remake a build thread.

I bought my '93 Rx-7 while I was in the Marine Corps back in 2005 when I had nothing better to spend my money on, didn't do much with it for several years due to some title issues with the great state of Florida, but in 2009 when I finally had a garage things escalated pretty quickly.

Here's a picture of it before the start of the madness:

-ONE- night of drinking in my newly acquired garage, and of course this happens...

.. Might as well!

Fabrication / Re: Small Lathe? Looking at 10x22

At school we use Smithy combination mill/drill/lathe machines for general machine shop use for projects (mechanical engineering) and they work great.

Any word on when these guys will be coming out?

"However, unlike original models, the Magnum-F does not aim to suit various applications and instead employs a unique extension housing tailored specifically to 4th Gen F-bodies."

Sorry for such the long response, completely forgot about this!
I've got the MIL-30915.

Here's a couple crappy quality pictures. The engine oil pan looks tilted because there's no transmission holding the engine straight, but I figure the front of the pan will be around where it'll level out at.

I'm probably going to make a skid plate that connects up to Samberg's crossmember since the pan is the lowest point there.

I'll take a picture of it and post up tomorrow, though I don't have a transmission installed so the engine is tilted back a few degrees you'll get the idea.

Give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach him to fish feed him for life.

Aka, learn to how find the information, there's plenty of it available. Use the search function see what people say about SR swaps. If there's something specific that you need answered ask, but general 'how do I build my car' questions will probably be brushed off.

Drivetrain / Clutch and Starter for L92 with QT Bellhousing and T56
« on: October 03, 2012, 06:20:35 PM »
Hey guys, I have a few questions about what to pick up for this set-up. Engine is a 2008 L92 going to paired up to a T56, planning on using a Quicktime bellhousing. Would I run a 11" or 12" clutch (Do they have different flywheel diameters or something?) and what sort of starter would be used, Fbody? And any T56 slave cylinder/throwout? I'm eyeballing a Monster Level 2 11".

Double flares. I just was using a sorta cheap tool to make them, the flaring kits you'd find at typical auto parts store. They were a huge pain in the ass. As far as the pan, I had asked Justin Samberg what higher capacity oil pans he suggested, and this was one. We'll see.

No I didn't Sabre, probably should have though. All the major internals I left alone, just put in a new oil pump and got rid of the l92 timing chain and tensioner in favor of C5R chain and LS2 damper. I've got most of the front accessories back on now, just waiting for serp belt and I'll post some pictures of that.
