First of all, thank you all once again!

Great build and excellent fab work!

Minor point but how are you planning on supporting your harness shoulder straps?  How you had it before will compress your spine in a wreck.

Typically you want 0-10 degrees down from your shoulders but no more.

I'm glad you notice that my friend and you are completely right.  In my first set up (picture) it was really temporary because I hadn't rear bar to mount them.  So now that is constructed as I designed it, the harness shoulder straps will be tied on rear horizontal bar (between rear suspension). And that's how it will consort with the regulations (like your last picture).

Hello there, I'm back again!
Sorry for the delay! Unfortunatly I've no time at all!
So here we are with the whole heavy duty cage building progress..

The main hoop built...

and fits like a glove..

Rear ends made with the best way to fully support the suspension

so the fronts too with curved flanges and both up and down support

Testing seats for side head support (unfortunatly because of height I couldn't fit so I didn't keep them)

main hoop support designed like that because I moved driver's seat back, so it has to be fitted with some angle to back..

everything is connected properly

new mount for steering wheel bar on cage

Side bars constructed like that:

and I made that finish..

but I changed them cause it was too "pimp ma ride" stuff!!  :D :D :D

I also made a costom mold in lathe to form my front flanges..

Aaaaaand I weld every damn spot...

Primered

and paint work had to start...

Stay tuned.. I have some GB to share with you..  ;)

Pretty sick buddy! Awesome choice and build too!
Congrats!

Hi there my friend Jonathan.
Thanks a lot. I've already created my cage fully welded and painted so far.
Unfortunately I work a lot and I have no time to post my progress to let you know but I promise I will asap.
Yeah you can read my blueprint but carefull with the dimentions. It's not as simple as it seems.. I design it for my own bending machine so curves may vary.  ;)

Hey bro, great choice!  ;)
Let us know about your build process! Good luck!

Also are you using stock instrument cluster? Trying to figure out what to do for speedo cable

I didn't do anything with speedo. I wait to place an aftermarket tachometer (but I didn't at last  :D :D :D ). I'm about to place an Apexi Tachometer now but I have a bug in my head that pushing me buy a digital dash!  :D :D So, will see, if I can, I will buy it for sure but I've spend a lot of money till now, that's why I'm thinking about it!

You can look into the "Integra Mod"

http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=199.0

Wow, very interesting mod! Nice work!

Wow, I like your style.   Building your own tubing bender is pretty slick.  :D

Thanks bro!

nice bender, have you ever used solidworks before?  It's pretty cool to draw in 3D

I use 3D in autoCad too.. I see you like it so speaking of this, let's take a break from FC's build. Here are some photos from wheel spacers/adapters that I made for my brothers 350Z from raw aluminium to completed product (interesting work if you consider that it was my first attempt!)  :)

Design..

raw metal cut and lathe preparation..

lathe machining..

measurements..

lathe work completed

place the new studs...

and the product is ready!

and the whole process

and that's how my brother's Z suits the titanium lip Rays Perfectly!  :)

It's looking like I'll have to go custom for hood vents. I've got a free non turbo hood to cut up but the custom vents are pricy. The dmax hood is close but I need more measurements. The 3 trouble areas are the intercooler pipes and the cam cover. Wish I had your fabrication skills.

Bro I wish I had that hood without OEM air duct, because now that I'm doing the hood I made triple work (cut, add, build....)!
Why the pipes are problem? Are they so high? Couldn't you make them lower? That would solve you 2 of three problems so not to make vents (or cuts) everywhere. I would advise you to buy an Uras universal vent, make your measurements with calm and place it like a boss! You don't have to worry about it, you will make it, I'm sure!    ;)
Nice build by the way!  ;)

So spot weld ended and I got a multycoloure FC on my place  :D

Next step was to design a fully custom (as always  :D ) roll cage which will be welded in car. My expectations was to create a serious cage according to competition rules we've got in Greek Championship but always have in my mind best projects around the world.
Proper builds needs proper machines so I designed and build an industrial hydraulic tube bender. I did that to create perfectly bended corners without deforming or shrinking the tubes.

....and from Cad to reallity

And it was about time to start AutoCad staff again and keep working on it...

Measurements... measurements aaaaaand measurements once more...! >:(
Blueprints are nice but things get serious when they've got to be real.. and that really excites me..

That's great man! Good luck with your project!
Do you have any thread in here of your build to check it?

Impressive build.  I see you're getting pretty serious with it now.  I assume you are doing tube front end and a welded in roll cage?  How is the drifting scene in greece?

:D :D :D :D I see you got me bro! I've already completed both of them! Now working on front end (radiators etc..)
Drift scene it's quite good for our stats. We don't have plenty of big tracks (for cars I mean) but it's ok for now even in the cart-tracks (not high level drift but it's better from nothing!). We try a lot to push levels in drift year by year.

Yeah I can see you spaced the hood, just getting little things tidied up and then it's on to paint. Can't wait to have it back. How much did you space the hood? Looking at a URAS vent if that won't work.

About 3-4cm. Uras vent is a pretty good choice that I like a lot. I was that close to form it on my hood. Actually, I form it and when I finished it, the same night I found a picture of another vent that I fall in love, so next day I form the new vents and now I'm about to finish it (that's what I'm working right now, the front).
I'll try to update more photos soon to see the progress.  ;)

Not so much. Actually only the bottom of the hood (I don't hurt the upper side- exterior).
You can also take a look on pics above. It's the oem hood lifted on back (mount brackets gives you space to lift it without spacers, or you can place spacers if you want)

I'm putting a 1j in mine. What did you do so the stock hood would close?

Vents!!  :D :D :D
First of all, nice choice, good luck!
When I put my RB, I just lift it from hood brackets (without spacers) you know "jdm style" and a little bit hammer  on bottom (in cam gear cover site) and it fits great. With 1JZ you might need more space (i'm not sure for that) so all you have to do is to cut the hood and put vents on it (e.g. d-max style).
That's what I'm working on right now. I create a whole new hood cause I got to refresh the appearence (new bumpers, fenders ...so new hood also!)  ;) ;)
I'm in the sculpting process right now, when I finish it I'll let you know.

Thanks for the term bro!
Suturday today and I have a lot of custom work on my FC doing some TIG stuff so I'll try to find time to update my thread later... Believe me it's only the beggining above..  ;) ;)

Hello boys, like I said, here we go for the hard work..
Back in January 2013 (3years ago..???!!  oghhh I got to finish it) I put it in the garage and everything out!!

cockpit got empty...

engine packed for upgrade

..a quick body wash

and then... just a metal case!!  :D

so in order to work on it properly I build up a "carry table" to move it around

and here the reall work comes on...   >:( >:( >:(

I also create the most important thing in that kind of builds, a spinning base (I don't know how you're calling it  :D ) just to work in right conditions  ;)

And "plasma cut" time. Let's clean up the FC's chassis from extra metal..

aaaand it's gone!

The car was in perfect condition so I didn't need to fix any rusts etc.
I need my car to be stiff for my purpose so next step... Spot weld the whole chassis..

of course I had some friends to help me with  :D :D :D :D :D

and smoke everywhere..  >:( :o
