Car is back on the ground.

The build is a LS2 ALuminum 6.0
K1 Crank
.30 BTR Pistons
Johnson Lifters (3310s)?
TFS220 Heads
BTR TT Stage 2 Cam

Car is alot of fun now. Had some issues after learning the tuner didnt put in all the correct injector data so I learned how to dial the car in myself on HPTuners. Right now im at 11.3PSI with 100% duty cycle on 1050x's (maxed) with an AFR in the 11.3-11.5 Range @ 16 degrees timing. Ill probably turn it down a little more (this is as of today). The A/C is mediocre at best. Once I get the new manifolds in next year Ill probably get a bigger core or something (im always changing stuff up)

Goals for this next off season:

Haltech,
New Manifolds/Turbo layout
A/C Core Re-config.
Maybe Widebody like FEED or Ronin Rears, 99 spec wing and front bumper. Need to vent the hood with a siebon but might mess around with something custom.

I didnt know they had a Flow through style flex fuel sensor so I changed that and relocated it outside of the hatch

While I was busy cutting, welding and cutting and welding again .. trying to dial in my unit... i was updated with some lovely photos of the build over a span of 18 weeks (mostly time sitting on the wait list)

Things were tight and things had been changed- trying to work withing millimeters to maximize the space. I decided I was going to do whatever it was to make it work. Next year im going to fabricate my own manifolds and push the turbos back 1/2"

after some previous experience I now know how much these cars need air forced through the front. I started making shrouding and heat shields

I found a 12 x 12 condenser core and mounted that. figured it was going to be undersized but was hopeful it would do something

With all the downtime I picked up a TIG welder, 330cf Tank and practiced welding for my first time on aluminum. (dont judge  :smile2: )

Figured Id cut the front rail finally and free up some room. move the radiator forward, shroud the fans, cut the IC core out and flip it upside down and put it through the core support. I had used the Old motor for mockup previously before sending it out

Update !

Ended up throwing 4 rod bearings in boost. the stock motor had enough and it was always running hot. The setup needed tons of revisions, pipes were hanging way to low, the whole thing was a pain in the ass

Got the motor out.. sent it off to Texas to a recommended shop. The block was damaged and needed to be decked- the motor appeared to be rebuilt before by "jasper" i was told- it was already .20 over...at this point i was already down 14 weeks - we went .30 over with some BTR pistons.. the last time this motor will be rebuilt most likely

87 goes to starter 'S' signal
85 ground (make sure its grounded well)
86 goes to 12V+ stud terminal on starter
30 goes to ignition switch signal

I have not — the oil cap is vented and part of my system. I blew out the seal with 9psi on first pull after replacing — no change other than that air pump and nothing seeping. This is with 100%stock bottom end and rings . I was even getting oil on cylinder 3 spark plug— could be unrelated.

Finally!  :drive:

As of today this car is running the best it has ever ran and functioning mechanically.

My last Dyno Run was sub-par and the car had issues; I was set on getting this thing dialed in and re-tuned..

On-going the car always had a longer than normal crank with backfire--I had discovered the car had a Cam Sensor DTC- Because I re-wired the car, I though it was something I did wrong-- Had cut and opened up the harness 3 times, tested everything. I looked at the LS2 GTO Wiring diagram-- found multiple errors--confirmed with other owners, cross referenced with other forum members--wiring was correct.  >:( This was extremely time consuming and information is very conflicting --GM Service manual and Sister Sites. (the pinouts on the cam plug are even wrong)  :banghead:

The front main seal was leaking from crankcase pressure so I decided to open the front case and check for cam walk as well....well i'd be damn! the sprocket is for a 58x! I was surprised the car even made the power it did on the dyno-- (thanks matt!) I swapped for a 24X Sprocket and even got the GM Part #cam sensor for the GTO (Yes they are difference but can be interchanged)--- bolted back up and it fired right up...no more DTC... Idle, low throttle, etc was sooooo much smoother

With a little more confidence my next plan was to kabash this dang oil seepage-- Grannys/youtube has some decent info on running the secondary air pump ---for a few bucks and some left over 12AN line i Decided why not.. I have the typical non-recirc catch can setup that goes into a single tank with open element filter-- this then discharges into 12AN that runs about 9' back to the secondary air pump which is activated with a 2PSI Hobbs switch.

Headed to the tuner and wanted to get the timing down and turn up the boost 5 PSI (15PSI Total)--- he cleaned up the tune and added some more fuel up top and the car absolutely flyyyyys :drive: :yay: Tire pressure was about 15PSI and it hooks very well on the street SS and stays straight. we did about 8 healthy pulls--- got the car home --- not a single drop of oil/seepage from the front main seal--FIXED.

Next ill be working on the body side of things...carbon Fiber accents, and the A/C lines, etc. Got my 3rd set of Weld Wheels back ($300 credit back after some fuss) and they're in for Powder---ill update pics with the S77s on the ground

I dont want to high jack this thread so ill be updating mine- I installed my 3rd front main seal this year due to seepage. Furthermore, I installed the secondary air pump and coincidentally turned up the boost (15psi total) and not a drop of oil! works beautifully and highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m running two of them and love it. No issues so far. Trying to think back to my research ast winter— the technology has been around since about 2012.. these new comp turbos have about 4 years in development. Zerk fittings can be in any orientation. Yes you can run different grease but why? Use what they recommend. My last journal bearing setup recommended rebuild after 20-30k miles.. if I can get that out of them I’m okay with that. Did some decent pulls in them- pulled the intake no play- nice and tight center shaft.

Electronics How-To Guides / Re: GTO LS2 Wiring Guide
« on: May 25, 2023, 07:19:00 AM »
Hello guys-- Would Love to update this thread as I'm dealing with issues on my Cam Sensor on my LS2 E40 24X ECU. The Pin-outs on the Factory Service Manual for the C1 and C2 contain Errors. I hope this helps someone in the future as it has for me.

GTO Pinouts as published with corrections noted

C1 Pin 54 Not Used (EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid Control)
C2 Pin 44 (WH/BK) Low Coolant Level Signal (Incorrect! C2 Pin 44 is verified as Cam Position Sensor)
C2 Pin 50 (GN/YE) EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Control
C2 Pin 54 (WH) EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid Control (Incorrect! C2 Pin 54 is verified as Ignition Coil #1)

here is the discussion
