Parts for Sale / Full set of tail ligths s3 style
« on: September 05, 2017, 02:24:48 PM »
I picked up two sets of tail lights from a local guy who was selling off his spare race car parts.

One set is in rough shape (craked and hazy not broken) I refinished the other set so they look almost new. There is a chip in one corner and a hair line crack but they really are not to bad.

Looking to get $150 and I can ship it or pick up in central NC

I can send more photos ect, im not on this forum to much so shoot me an email to-
petrol 360 @ gmail

Or find me on instigram or bookface at petrol360

General Tech / Re: Wheel fitment, help me find my next wheels!
« on: October 27, 2016, 06:12:43 PM »
Oh yep 295's would be a sight on a 7" wide wheel. Mine are 205's in the rear. The 9 and 0 are right next to one another on my phone.

And yep again I know they are 5x114.3 or 5x4.5" its all the same and the spacers I have are really 5x4.75" not 5x120 but 5x4.75" is really 5x120.65 but they still work with the German 5x120 wheels. 1/2 a mm really who is counting?

Yep I know my tire sizes pretty well its the wheel im worried about since that decides where the tire sits.

So positive offset means the wheel mounts closer to the outside of the wheel like a front wheel drive car ect.

Then negative offset would add lip to the outside like all these guys running around with wide body kits.

Anyway I get under the car and took a rough guess with a tape measure and I came up with 20mm offset including the spacer which makes sense. Then looking at getting a 8" wheel with 38mm offset it would move the wheel in 31mm closer to the spring and move it 5mm closer to the inside of the car from the fender line.

I think I have about 1.5" or 38mm from my current wheel to the spring which would be close but should work. Also the larger wheel will mean it would be closer up the strut which with the angle its at might mean a bit more room.

Did any of that sound right?

Forgot to post my current setup

They are 16"x7 I think 30 offset can't find much about them. They have 295x40r16 up front and 205x40r16 in the back with 1" spacers taking it from 5x114 to 5x120

Hey guys iv been running a set of Borbet 16" wheels since I got it and the tires are going bad so im looking to grab a new set from craigslist.

So I need to know what size offset ect will fit. Im looking for 17" or 18" wheels with a bit of lip.

So my cars specs-

Cut front springs
Lowering rear springs
Struts (not coilovers)

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on wheels im a wheel virgin at this point. Just looking for what wheel tire and offset you guys run!

Thanks!

Thinking about looking at these but then again I have no idea what will fit.

Hey thanks guys! I was in a rush to get the car back on the ground and you came to the rescue! I used some heat and a punch and they came out with minimum efort. New bushings are in but havent driven the car hard enough to tell a deference in the handling.

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels / Rear control arm bushing help (lots of pic)
« on: December 29, 2015, 10:58:35 PM »
Hey guys I have been trying to throw the rear end of the car together before I move in a few weeks. I am swapping the rear control arm bushings from the stock ones to a set of used aftermarket ones. I had to burn the old ones out but now they are free and its time to put the new ones in. I had to try my very best and I was able to get one side in but it was way harder then expected and doesn't sit right in the arm so here is my Q

There seems to be a thin sleeve inside the arm that is in two pieces is that a part of the arm or the old stack bushings? Did some googling and came up with a few pic but I didn't seem them in arms with aftermarket bushings.

Here is what im talking about.

This photo shows the gap between the two

Here is the overlap on the outside that I have not seen in photos online

Thanks I have a large after market rad to and the motor heat is not the isue it the fuel getting hot in the carb causing vapor lock. A hole in the hood would probably fix my issues but then everyone will know its a v8 car so its not a option.  :secret:

Iv got the second video up today!

Had to rebuild the T5 and get a lot of little things done before it went to the exhaust shop. Just shows a little taste of the work and also a little lesson to the new exhaust!

Orracle- do you have any issues with heat under the hood? I have aftermarket headers, edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock carb and im boiling the gas...

Don't mean to hijack your thread but there is just so much heat under there!

Progress looks good! Can I ask why you are running a mechanical fuel pump and not using the in tank pump? With a electric fuel pump you can have it cut on before you go to start the car so if its been sitting for a while you don't have to run the starter for a while till the float bowls fill up. Just my thoughts on it!

Keep us posted with progress!

Looks like a fun swap. There is no replacement for displacement! Wish I could fit a 351 into my car and keep the stock hood! that would take some skill!
