satin blue FTW, even though it is a girly color, as Arnold would say ;)

try jump starting it from another running car.

The voltage at the pcm is reading 8.3-8.7 during cranking as well, sorry i should have said that before. Well some good news, does that mean the pcm is sending a signal to the crank sensor?

that is way to low.  I always saw 10+ volts during cranking.

IMHO, you have a week battery.  just because it may measure good voltage, with no load, does not mean that it can support high current draw.

zan was a really fast skier.  she used to ski on 200cm skis.  when we'd get off the gondola, the attendant would often give her skis to some big dude.  that was before the shaped side cuts had come out.

anyway, we were on top of an empty run, & I took off first.

I just knew I was far ahead, so I took a hard right cut.  in fact, she was just about to pass me & bowled me over.  she tore a ligament, & the patrol took her down on the sled.  she was really pissed. >:(

I don't know how to further explain it.

maybe some one can better translate my electricalese.

let me ask you this.. when i snip off the small wire on the relay and hook it to ground both fans come on,and when i do the same to another relay while the fan is running the fan speeds up even higher so why cant i take the green wire from the pcm and hook it to one relay and the blue one to the other? isnt that all the pcm is doing is grounding it?

the only i can explain this, is that you have the fans hooked up in series to one relay, so each of them is getting ~6 volts.  they are hooked up in parallel to the second relay, so they are getting full voltage when you ground the second relay.

very ghetto.

wire the fans independently.  one relay coil to the green wire, & the other to the blue.
wire each fan independently, through its separate relay to ignition-on power.

the Mazda ecu turned one of the fans on, when the a/c button was pressed, irrespective of the coolant temp.  that complicates the circuitry, which you don't need, unless you retain the a/c.

if you are going to retain a/c and control it with the PCM, pez sells the whole setup.

can i run the low speed on one relay and the high speed on one and only run two relays?

yes, for the LS1.

the LS1 PCM grounds the green wire at the low temp set point.  the PCM grounds the blue wire at the high temp set point, while continuing to ground the green wire.  I don't know about other LSx's.

so first check rotation by hooking your battery, or a charger across each fan. then connect the high side of each fan relay coil to a 12 volt source.  connect the low side of one fan relay coil to the green wire & the low side of the other fan relay coil to the blue wire.  use a 30 amp fused 12 volt ignition on source to power each fan thru the relay contacts.

double check rotation.  pushing hot engine bay air thru the radiator is not cool :barf:

I set the low temp turn on at 175* & the high temp turn on @ 190*.  others will have different opinions.

you may also want to use a temp controlled delay to keep a fan running after the engine is shut off, but you need a good battery if you do.

o'side harbor has a great ambiance.  lots of good sea food places, from paper plate walk ups to nice restaurants.  there are fishing trips & a great beach.

the snow level is down to 6K ft, so the best options in orange cty, are in the Cleveland nat forest.  drive to the end of mojeska canyon & you will find trails, & fire roads climbing to ~ 5K ft.

I'm sure that there are good trails in north San Diego cty.  up towards fallbrook.

enjoy.  forecast is for light rain until Wednesday.

There is always a chance.

How else are you going to wire it?

you could use a solid state relay AKA power transistor.

it makes a lot of sense to me.

it is time to reduce your all around risk.  plenty of time after your kids are grown, to become a kid again.

ask me how I know? ;).

anyway, the Pre 73 classic, is what I have decided to do, after I get my garage space back.  Austin Healy 100, or triumph spitfire appeal to me.  I think I have a line on a spitfire.
