General Tech / Re: RADIATOR LEAK FROM CRACKED CORE
« on: May 15, 2017, 04:03:10 PM »
Update:  I drop in 2 of the tablet and so far my Samberg V2 (with at least 3 leaking location that would puddle a half a dollar bill over night) is holding up just fine.  I did drop my cap to 13psi prior to the tab.  Currently, no issue to report.

I would suggest starting with 1 tab at a time and give it 3 cycle prior to adding more.  I wish I had the patient at first.  I add 1 tab (smashed) start and let it get up to temp then park over night.  One side already stopped leaking.  Instead of more cycles, I just added another tab.

Ok I guess I wasn't done with my build. After 7000 miles my Samberg v2 begin leaking from at least both corners.  I watched the test and we believe its coming from where core meet end tanks. But will require cutting off shroud for better inspection.

Possible cause are electrical current and cheap core.

I'm little fearful about running the tabs. (I would do in a heartbeat for my daily beater.

Support from Justin at Samberg is none. No repairs. No warranty. No part number given as to where to buy new core. Only offer to sell new which will cost 800+ (for rad alone) which will only build in GB format with no dates.

Therefore I'm all in on a better solution. Might just throw it back into the car and let it seep until we figure something out. Let me know how I can help support the community

Drivetrain / Need help...what is going with this motor?
« on: July 14, 2013, 11:24:00 PM »
So I am in process of going over to the darkside(which I plan to do a build thread sometime soon.  I was able to pick up a 2006 GTO LS2+T56 with 28k.  Today, I started taking the parts off to inspect, clean, and prep it for the install.  Unfortunately I didn't get far since I ran into something not good.

The first thing I did was I pulled the plug  and noticed that there's some oil in the #7 cyl(rear driver side).  Then I realized that valve cover has a crack.  So I pulled the valve cover and it was downhill from there.  I will let the picture do the talking.  Please let me know what you guys think.

This is what I noticed please confirm if you can
     a) Multiple cracks on driver side valve cover - Does not seal up against the head from being so concaved
     b) Unseated exhaust valve spring
     c) Misalignment on roller & valve assembly
     d) Large amount of debris under valve cover - both dirt/oil mixture and unknown broken pieces
     e) Oil leaking into chamber thru valve stem seal which is why the spark plug is wet from oil

I never seen this type of issue before.  So could someone please help me identify some scenario on what the hell happened, how bad is this, what is broken(head and piston contact?), and what should I do next? Anything helps at this point

Yes they fit sambergs subframe.

And theyre sexy

They are gorgeous!!! We only need four more!!!

Since JTR outsource the ceramic coating process, I wonder if they could do a custom color on the headers.  That would be even sexier!!!!
