I'm from Sarasota but live in Georgia now. There's a guy with a big-block FC that lives there, but I don't think he followed us here from the old board.

The most impressive part is how smooth that car is from start to finish. Nice fabwork.

The Lounge / What's it worth?
« on: February 06, 2012, 06:20:00 PM »
I bought this almost 2 years ago and keep trying to motivate myself to get on with building it, but it just isn't happening. With two deployments since then and more coming, I just don't want to put the time and effort into making this a swapped car again. It was an LT1/auto car that the previous owner blew the motor up, and ripped out the motor/trans/wiring in frustration and then sold to a friend, where I picked it up after he ended up deploying.

The good:
-Clean shell, paint is still a nice black except for the front bumper and hood (in primer).
-Rear end is a C4 Dana36
-Pretty much ready for some motor-vation to make it v8-rx7 again
-5lug all around
-Complete black cloth interior.

The bad:
-wiring is hacked up, bought an American Autowire kit to replace most of it.
-tires are pretty old.
-previously mentioned hood/bumper.

So anyway, thinking about selling it and using it toward buying something that is done and I can enjoy when I'm in this country. What's it worth?  Location is Augusta, Ga. and I have a clean title.

I still live here in Augusta, and was stationed here as a Marine with Company D.  I know some of the Marines at the Detachment here as well as we used to train in martial arts together (I was the head instructor).  While the broken arms, legs, etc. is a stretch, rest assured that the Marines beat the living @#$@ out of him.

My local car club hosted one last year.  We didn't think it would be that hard to do until we started working on it.  Lessons learned from it were first and foremost, just have one person in charge overall.  He/she can delegate to other people, but have one person in charge and  following up on everything.  Plan out everything months in advance.  Contact radio/newspapers/TV etc. 3-6 months in advance and ask how you can be featured or noted and what sort of timeframe they need.  Send out a press release to the media and to sponsors as well.  Dedicating the show to a charity or cause makes it seem worthwhile to more people.  We hosted the show to raise money for the March of Dimes after one of our club member's son died a few days after he was born.  A lot of people came forward to help:  Summit Racing gave us gift bags, Coca-Cola donated a drink trailer, a local BBQ place sold food at the show and donated the proceeds, etc.
