Not seeing your car in person, which they always have more issues when you get up close, there are thousands of dollars worth of repairs or updates needed to justify the $29k price tag. Sports cars deserve the best tires you can buy, which would be Michelin PS2's (close to $2k installed). I would recommend fixing the A/C because that's an unknown to the buyer. The odometer and oil pressure gauges don't work, which isn't ideal. How many miles on the engine and transmission? The aesthetics are personal -- you'll find someone who doesn't mind the paint job, but others that will pass.

If you're a motivated seller, I would recommend dropping it to $25k where you will have more action. I love these cars. GLWS
Thank you for your opinion. I would be angry if what you said was not true. I would accept $25k

Thanks for taking it well lol. Give it some time now that winter is here.

Over 1K views and only one reply ? At least say Hi, like the car, good luck with sale, price is too high, I remember Pez, something.

I used to own a Black Base with the upgraded tan leather interior and loved the contrast. I sell real estate and it's difficult to tell sellers that their homes are overpriced or that they need to do X work to them if they want to get their price. Cars and real estate are hot right now, but most of the country puts their sports cars into hibernation, so you have a reduced pool of buyers. You've had the ad up for about 1 month and received over 1k views, which tells you that it's overpriced for the current market.

Stock lug nuts/wheel locks are SOLD!

Here is the Updated List:

- 2002 WS6 LS1 A/C Compressor + Hoses + Serpentine Belt (I bought the car swapped from member, Shakenbake, and the compressor was not installed. I intended to install A/C in the car, but never got around to it.  The connector is partially broken off as seen in the photos): $75 (Newly Lowered Price)

- NEW Napa Parts Lower Radiator Hose #NBH 8484 with tag:  $10

- NEW LS1 Oil Pan Gasket still in wrapper:  $15

- Stock Ashtray / Ash Tray (Some light pitting, but works fine): $25

- Stock (under dash?) Piece: $15

- Stock Cruise Control unit (Was removed during the engine swap): $25 (Newly Lowered Price)

- Tan Visors (Fair condition - discoloration and missing flimsy mirror cover piece): $20 (Newly Lowered Price)

- RattleTrap Sound Deadening: 15 continuous feet x 18" width (22.5 square feet) left from my 50 sq ft roll. Perfect for a smaller project or if you only need a small amount instead of buying a full roll and paying retail. Cut each piece of sound deadening from the roll to fit your needs instead of buying 40 inch sheets and paying $60+. This stuff came highly recommended and it worked really well on my RX7:  $30

That last item looks like a clutch master cylinder, but I have no idea what it's from.

Thanks. It should be for an LS1, but I'm not sure.

Cars for sale / Re: Who has unlimited Carfax and can run a VIN?
« on: June 28, 2017, 12:35:55 AM »
Looks like Carfax just raised their prices again.  Carfax charges $40+tax for 1 report, $60+tax for 3 reports, and $100+tax for 6 reports.

I can run reports, but they won't be free.  Please send me a PM if you have a Venmo account.  Thanks.

The Lounge / Re: NEED YOUR HELP! Auto Forum / Auto Buying Feedback

Yes, the plan is to purchase an E36 (M3 ideally) in the next 3 months. I check CCA, BMW enthusiast forums and all of the regular car sites every day. When you're looking for a low production (2,252) specialty car that's 18 years old, it's difficult to find clean examples that aren't sitting online overpriced. Most people don't purchase a convertible during the winter, especially up north, so I would expect to get a more favorable deal.

This got me thinking of how to improve the buying/selling process, so I'm trying to get other enthusiast's feedback to put together something that will benefit us all. If you have 2 minutes, I'd really appreciate if you could provide feedback for some of the questions.

are you actually buying an E36 M3 for your dad?  If so BMW CCA classifieds, and bimmerworld are probably good places to start.

Thanks for the feedback!  Is there any chance of downloading and using the dealer app if you're not a dealer?  What's it called?  One of my colleagues left the retail car world and mentioned how much the prices have spiked at auction, specifically for Hondas.

Could you put a price tag on what you would feel comfortable paying to buy or sell a car -- increasing as the sales price goes up?

I think this site has a lot of great features and is a strong RX7 based community.

I am a new / used / auction car salesman and have been selling cars for a wile.  I will give you my true assessment on what I see, use and like on a daily basis.

Hey Everyone,

I've been without a car since I sold my 93 RX7 in 2012, which is only mildly inconvenient since I live in NYC. Recently, I decided to purchase another sporty car and this time it will be a convertible. The only catch is that it won't be for me, but instead will be for my father. He's turning 70 in the spring and always talks about buying a manual convertible as a fair weather toy/cruiser, but I don't think he will ever pull the trigger. My parents have been great to me, so I'd like to be able to thank them. My father is a gear head and has owned many cars including 55-57 Chevys, a C2 Corvette, and more recently, a 63 Avanti. For the time being, I narrowed it down to a BMW E36 convertible, ideally an M3, because it will be quick enough, handle well, and have more interior room than a Z3. I have 3 months before his birthday, so I'm waiting for a clean/well maintained example to pop up that's not overpriced.

With all of that being said, I'm now back to browsing car forums, auction sites, and classifieds looking for the right car. I like certain things from different sites and wish there was a better system for buying/selling a car than what is currently available. In the past, I have bought and sold from enthusiast websites, eBay, and classifieds like Autotrader. If you have a minute to provide me with some feedback, I'd greatly appreciate it:

- What auto related sites do you visit on a regular basis and why do you visit these sites specifically?

- What features from a car forum would you like to see that are not currently being offered?

- Where do you go to buy or sell a vehicle?

- What do you wish sellers did a better job of when selling their cars, specifically cars that are far away?

- When you're buying, how involved are you when inspecting the vehicle? -- Just a test drive, PPI (Pre-purchase inspection), or take the seller's word for everything?

- How do you decide what to pay when buying and what to price your cars at when selling? - KBB/NADA/Forums/Other Classified Ads/Make up an unrealistic amount & wait for low ballers?

- What do you like about auction sites and classified listing sites?

- Have you ever purchased a car without viewing it/driving it first? How did it work out?

- Who should pay the fees when an auto is sold -- Sellers and/or buyers and what is a fair amount?

I'm open to any other feedback you can think of. I'll keep you updated on the car I purchase for my father and where it comes from. I'm not afraid to fly somewhere and either ship or drive it home, as I did when I saw the listing on this site.  I flew my father out with me 400 miles away to buy and drive my old RX7 home. Hopefully this purchase will be smooth! Thanks in advance!!
