Build Threads / Re: 5.3 twin turbo Dodge Stealth

Thanks guys!

Yeah I had an LS FD back in the day and I MISS it!  I was very much a rookie (and still am) and could barely pull off a simple FD swap.   Still love the 7's and there may be a day where i get another one@

Oh yeah, I've been documenting the entire build on my youtube channel!  Have over 50 videos i think now!  Check it out and you can subscribe for more updates if you are interested.  This isn't my "main" forum so i'm not going to update this thread near as much as others.

New Car, new subframe, new trans mount, new bracing, new steering mounts, new steering arms, removeable front center section, etc. Workin on trans tunnel now. New goal is to keep as many possible stock features as possible instead of a stripped down "hot rod" build.  ABS (new lines need to be made), electronic suspension, active exhaust, A/C, digital climate control, stock gauges, electronic seat side bolstering, etc.  Makes the build more difficult but also more fun.  Made clearance for dual 3" exhaust as well.  A lot more i'm sure as it's been a while but here it is.

can see the start of the tranmission tunnel here as well as the a/c (black box).  It fit with just slight trimming of the mounts!

Engine mounted.  can see some subtle improvements to the subframe like the little curved braces on top of the rear stock subframe parts.  These hold the suspension so over bracing is ok with me :)

Cool symmetry

Ground clearance and steering can be seen here

The car on it's operating bed

Here's what the future holds

Wow bizarre!  I've already got the T56 though and have built it around it.

Yeah T56 for packaging and my love of rowing the gears.

57's are a perfect street turbo still capable of pretty stout power.  I can always upgrade if I go full stupid but they are capable of a lot.

Agreed 100%

The new plan for the setup will completely address the steering rack location and bumpsteer.  Old setup was junk but was a learning experience.

Actually I went with an iron block 5.3, not aluminum.  That'll cost me a bit over 100 lbs.  However, overall weight SHOULD be something like 3400....that's a complete random guess though.

As for the transmission, I have the largest transmission option possible.  A t56 would be much easier to package.  However, I plan on making this very powerful and wanted to build an auto for it.  I may decide I don't like it and swap back to a manual but we will see.

As for the corvette setup, made no sense to me so I didn't pursue it.

These expensive but beautiful bastards bolted to a mount coming off the subframe.

That makes two of us.  The heims joint helps a lot.

I still think I'll be making a steering arm though, once real bumps happen with a couple thousand pounds of weight pushing into them.
