Drivetrain / Re: T-56 Magnum "F" Finally Exists!!
« on: May 01, 2019, 12:41:21 PM »
part of the reason it took so long to come out with the Magnum F was because of production of that the tailshaft housing--that's not a part they make anymore and i guess it's a big deal to stop production of other things to make a relatively small run of something else... i seriously doubt they'll sell just the parts to retrofit though since that's a real small market segment--look how hard it was to even get the Magnum F with BIG demand!  ;)  Several Tremec dealers DO do the modification but all said and done you'll probably spend more than you'll lose by selling your old Magnum and buying a new one not to mention voiding your warranty if thats a concern.

yes, this is factory built straight from Tremec.. it's technically still a prototype so that shifter may not be the one that ships with it (think it's one from the Magnum XL) but this pretty much what it will be.  A tremec dealer can technically make you one of these things from the original Magnum and a some f-body T-56 donor parts but it will actually end up costing $1,000-$1,500 more than this one which will sell for within a couple hundred of the original Magnum.

i might be willing to part with mine but the price would probably be about twice your budget.. just passed a fresh smog check 2 days ago though! :)

Wow, $60K is pretty steep, but on the other hand, that does appear to be one very highly modified car, and nicely done.  I'm not so crazy about the Rocket Bunny styling, but the workmanship looks great at first glance.   8)
When I have time I plan to go through this entire build, just to get some ideas.

I'm not really that motivated of a seller either though.. but if the right price comes along!  Look at it this way though, we need some big $$ sales here to set a precedence for when/if others around here want to sell :)

Ok, so you have an E-Rod with a CARB EO that most shops are afraid to go anywhere near. Fun :)

Yes i do, and before that an LS1 swap that was also ref'd and compliant.  The instructions to do the work are out there if it's something important to you.  Pass it around!

While the effects of legalized marijuana are clearly starting to show themselves, swapped vehicles continue to not be legal.

Pass it around!

that's 100% false my friend (the swapped vehicles part)

NorCal Motorsport / Re: *NEW* T56 Magnum (TR6060) 6speeds for sale! $3095
« on: February 12, 2018, 06:47:02 PM »
Prices for 2018 have increased from Tremec.  Rumor may become reality.... the Fbody style offset Magnum should be available by late spring/early summer.  This allows you to run your existing driveshaft without shortening it (replace yoke for 31 spline unit), the supplied shifter remains in same place as '98-02 Fbody so no real mods needed aside from a potential small setback stick.

Please email me for current pricing:  norcalmotorsport@gmail.com

Revised info:

4 solutions for setting the shifter further back on standard Magnum
1) Sikky billet shifter $500
2) American Powertrain White Lightning $335 approx
3) I modify the stock 6 bolt shifter that comes with the Magnum for the proper setback for $150
4) You modify the shifter yourself with $10 worth of properly measured parts I sell and basic instructions (cutoff wheel, drill press, MIG welder, 1.5 hrs voila.... magically you have saved yourself $300+).

I met with Nate from Tremec a few weeks ago and he told me the same thing!  it's either gonna get made or not--there will be no more "speculation" and the decision should come pretty soon.

Also there's the 5th option for relocating the Magnum shifter of putting a regular T56 tailshaft on it.  there are a few more parts to buy and it is a little involved but if Tremec doesn't build the Magnum-F I may try that option for fun.

I'm still for the reading haha, I was asking you on MotoIQ about the AEM Alpha-N base map before actually as I need something to start with on my FD when we install the ITB in the off season.

They are getting dusty on the shelf shaming me... :banghead:

damn that was forever ago!  good news is now you can just go buy an inifinity and that thing'll prolly start itself!  🙌🏻

Huge fan of the tech videos you and Mike have been doing, the suspension one especially was fascinating to see the engineering details put into resetting the geometry.

Keep them coming please!

thanks!  there will definitely be more.. no one wants to read anything anymore and it's actually easier in some respects to make a video than write an article.

Damn I didn't know you finished the FD! Love the kit! I would like to see what it looks like painted(photoshop), it is such a beautiful body kit.

Ha, I wouldn't call it finished, but it's not on jack stands at least!  Paint and some aero are the next things to tackle but I'm not promising a date on that :)

They’ve obviously never had to deal with the single digit MPG, pre-mixing 2-stroke oil, and changing the oil every 1000 miles from gasoline dilution.

...qualities a true rotard knows only add to the mystique!  swapping is the easy way out!

No more leaks?

nope!  I had a little leaking out of the bearing on the old one but even that wasn't really enough to complain about.. The biggest improvement was the shift quality over the old one though.  MUCH less lateral slop with the new linkage arm and hardware and a lot more confidence inspiring.

Hoonigans must have been light on content cuz they asked me to come by do their Daily Transmission show..  Good times, but I'm not reading the comments; those 13-year olds can say such hurtful things!
