I've got an 09 Acura TL SH-AWD.
Comfy, quick, decent on fuel (highway driving at 70-75 = 24mpg) AWD. Can get manual as well. Harder to find though.

If going auto, get an '11? plus, since it has the 6spd auto which is way better than my ancient 5spd.

Otherwise, Lexus LS460. Dead nuts reliable. Nice buttery V8 has some pep. Not much of a corner carver. I trade my TL for my buddies LS460 once in a while.

Drive a Mazda 6.

What he said. I would have bought a '16 Mazda 6 over my '16 WRX if I had only fit. Sadly didn't fit in the 6 so the WRX it was.

The Mazda CVT isn't even all that bad, since you've mentioned that you are steering closer to an Auto. The Subaru CVT (WRX) is...yea...not good. IMHO.
If its a WRX vs a Golf R, both auto, Golf R DCT all the way, it was nuts. However, Golf R is STi price territory.

I got a set of 17'' "Sport Edition" Wheels with some 225/55 General Altimax Arctic tires.

I have had them on my Civic, GF's CRV, my Suby, and now my TL. I really cant complain about them for the pricepoint.
They were well planted on the ice we had all last week, if not terribly confidence inspiring (I mean its glare ice...not much ya can do)
Hoping for some more deep snow soon to see how much fun it is to play around with the Acura SH-AWD system. Lately its just been 30's and rain.

Ended up picking up a 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD w/Technology Package.
Checks all my boxes except regular fuel...dang.
Heated seats, mirrors, Navi, sound system, AWD, auto (for the GF..) comfy as hell, affordable, $100/yr registration in Denver...

Was a 1 owner car, I just cracked 115k miles on it tonight in the snow. Apart from the craptastic Michelin MXV4 tires its not terrible in the snow. Waiting for my winter wheel/tire set up to get here still.

My '16 WRX with EPS has pretty decent feedback. Nothing like an old manual steering Civic or Miata of course, but very good for what it is. Front tires are very communicative as well.

My buddy just dumped his Golf R (good steering feel as well) for a '17 Mazda 3 Hatch. I drove it last night after he picked it up. Again, very good feel and front tires always let you know.

I do feel that Mazda has always had good steering feel, and it seems to have carried over into their current EPS systems. My experiences are with NA, NB Miatas, a 2012 Speed 3, and then the '17 Mazda 3. They have all been really good.

Some manufactures can do it, others are having a hard time to pull it off, a'la Civics.

Own:
Taurus .17HMR 7shot revolver

.17hmr revolver? That sounds like a blast to shoot! The small rifle round handguns are awesome, I'd like to snag an FN fiveseven soon.

Wouldnt know. The week I bought it (2 weeks ago now) I got all my final projects dumped on me at school so havent had a chance to test it out yet!
However, that is the exact reason I got it. I was like OMG THAT LOOKS LIKE A BLAST!.

On the 5-7 front, I owned one, along with a 2nd Gen PS90 (look up why 2nd gen was the best...) and an AR upper chambered in 5-7. Absolutely LOVED them. However, rounds were hard to find at the time, and expensive. Now federal makes rounds under the american eagle brand? Which is nice. Ended up selling them during one of the "gun grab scares" to pay rent...havent been able to replenish that specific round yet.

I believe emissions can be tight there, costs will be higher, housing prices are crazy.  My buddy thats a mechanical engineer is relocating from Denver to North Carolina because of the cost of living.  That being sad, if you like the outdoors its the place to be, motorcycle riding is unbelievable as is the skiing, mountain biking, and hiking.  You'll fit in with a subaru too haha

Subaru will be gone. Looking at a 2012ish TL SH-AWD to replace it since insurance and registration will be cheaper.
$500/year to register the Subaru since its new...

Freeskier - thats a valid point, and one of the reasons Ive been looking for jobs ever since my company mentioned this. Housing isnt so bad, its mostly the renters that get screwed. up to $1700/month for 1bd/1ba which is nuts.
If you own a house, property taxes are super low so a 300k house is only $1000 a year in taxes. I just cant afford a house quite yet.
I used to live in Laramie WY and LOVE it out that area. Just not Denver proper itself lol.

JB4 tune it. BAM. POWAH.

But seriously, the JB4 tune is kinda a big deal on those. My buddy has an 09 Coupe with the JB4 tune and an auto, it rips like crazy. Hasn't had any issues with it either.

Congrats man those are fun, always wanted one but I fit about as well as I did in my FD.

I shall take a look.  :)     I specialize in computer networking, so routers/switches/interconnect, etc.    That said, I have background in Linux systems administration, database, scripting, etc.   You kind of have to be a bit of a jack of all trades to do networking at a deep level as you spend 75% of your time troubleshooting other people's broken junk.  :D

^^ I hear that...T/S Video Ops equip all day long since they refuse to take accountability...lol

Hey all
So, my company is trying to move me and my department to Denver.

Anyone live there or around there that can give me the rundown on everything? Emissions, costs, etc?

Im debating between that or staying here and getting my Bachelors.

Thanks!

My company is moving my department to Denver (Ill be posting about this shortly ha)

But, we are hiring Principal Engineers etc like crazy if we can get our hands on em. Need all the help we can get.

Relocation bumps etc for moving to Denver. Large Enterprise situation, I help managing roughly 700 devices and all customers off of them. No real customer service, more like diagnostic/troubleshooting of our own network.
If its something you want to think about, shoot me an email/PM whatever and Ill shoot ya over some info.

Seriously, if I had not done the Mustang, my alternate choice was going to be a 540 touring (wagon) with a ~76mm turbo on an LS with a T56.    Rollin' in style.

^^ Thats my next project, minus the Turbo.

Ian - good luck. Chose the body style im not a fan of but I whole heartedly agree with your plans lol.

K series is a seriously solid choice speaking from the Honda Tech in me.

However, they are also very pricey to make a stout 300whp NA setup.  You are looking at a frankenstein engine which has been well documented to use a k24 bottom end (CRV, Accord etc) with a K20 head (RSX-S, SI)

There are a couple places selling complete conversions but last I looked they were 7-8k or so for a full engine.
http://www.kmodperformance.com/KMOD-K20-Engines.html - 260-280whp for $9k.

http://www.kmodperformance.com/KMOD-K24a-Crate-Engines.html
12.5:1 comp k24's about 285whp but that 11,000rpm rev limit though...yummy...

Now, do it yourself could be a lot cheaper, not sure on your level of experience.
I have a j32 engine sitting in my shop that needs a head, and an F20c engine that needs a sleeve (oval, still ran great just idles like shit lol)
Have you looked into a J Series V6 with a supercharger? Tons of torque, and they sounds pretty decent, otherwise I have seen ITB's on them and they sound GREAT...Also the J series is quite popular in sandrails and offroad buggy's. Plus at $600 give or take they are cheap.
http://www.arizonaperformanceimports.com/products.html

I ran my boosted Miata at 243whp for a couple years and it was a riot..sound can be changed with the use of resonators etc. :)

I want to put a 1.8T or J/K series in an RX8 still..pipe dreams for sure for a while still.
