RX7 Ls1
Street car/ race car
This car is right in the middle; you could use it for a race car or street car. The new owner could make it a 100% race car, or you could take some steps back to make it more of a street car with a cage.
The car has done 3 track weeks and no problems, NASA logbook, time 1:48 on the long course and Watefordhills.com  logbook, time 1:18.8
I have seen full race cars sell for big money.
You could take out the 2 race seats. We have no race graphics on the car. We still have the stock muffler on the car, so it is quiet. On the street you can be at red line and people on the sidewalk don’t even look.
12 stock wheels, 8 with Toyo-RA1 they still have the horizontal lines, (not fast yet)
On track the car handles beautifully, if you get in trouble you just lift and correct and then you're back in the gas. If you want to drift the car it’s very well balanced, never pushing.
Does not burn oil or get hot
We did in install a diff cooler, we had the diff oil getting  hot.
Tein shocks, adjustable they have 28 clicks, on the street I run full soft and the car rides just like stock, it squats nicely when you launch.

93 Red/Tan Touring LS1

Engine:
5.3 out of a 2004 silverado
LS6 cam
LS6 valvesprings
LS6 Intake
BBK 80mm Throttlebody
Stainless works stainless steel long tube headers
Custom Y pipe that mates up with a racing beat exhaust system out the back. VERY quiet.

The engine is SUPER clean front to back,

Runs like a top. Fires right up.

Trans: T56 runs good, spec stage 3 clutch, wilwood CMC, new oem Clutch slave/TOB

Interior:  we have a lot of the interior things, if you want the stuff,  just ask about it. 6 pt 1.75" 1.20 wall DOM fully TIGd cage. it is beautiful, really good welds.

needs window switches we are using wires to raise and lower windows
(I can make the windows go up and down so I know they work fine).

It has a full hinson supercars engine and transmission wiring harness so the engine is clean and pretty.

The underside:
This is in great condition. NO RUST AT ALL! All of the swap kit is all tubular and powdercoated. It looks really nice. Nothing is out of place or rigged.

Paint and body:

The paint is good for 20 year car, its been touche up.  It does have a few dings in it but nothing major. everyone that has seen it talks about how clean it is. The paint could use a good buff though. No clear coat peeling etc. Almost all of the imperfections can be fixed with some polishing compound and time.
Overall the paint and body is in good shape. Car really does look good. The body lines on these car are awesome.

Racing  1993 Mazda RX7 LS1 Race Car with Current NASA log book.  It can run  TTS/ST2
And Waterfordhills.com log book

The car is a blast to drive. Really fast and handles like its on rails. Its in great shape and as TONS of potential. with a solid body, suspension and drivetrain. it will be a BAD ASS car.

seems the 3.8 rx7 is a good choice for crap can racing. we took ours out to vir in april. led the race till hour 7 when we melted the na diff. ended up finishing, but no where close to the top. our 13b car finished 7th in that race. we also dragged both car to nelson for chump cars 25-25-25. finished second out of 60, and turned the fasted lap of the event. we would have won the damn thing had i not taken a bs penalty with an hour to go. sat on pit lane for 15 min, and lost by 5 laps. we were doing 1.20s our best lap was a 1.17. next year we are going fuel cell and some aero, as well as swapping another 3.8 into the 13b powered car.

the car looks sweet but your gonna need more the 400whp to be competitive in STO. scott tuckers STO porsche made 1100whp unrestricted this year, dave pintarics viper was doing 900whp. im not sure if you want to be competitive, but its just food for thought.

your build is awesome and i respect you a lot for doing it yourself, but these welds don't look so hot and it would be a shame to have the motor come crashing down in the engine bay and tear up your beautiful car.

well work on the car has been slow, as my job is getting crazy. got the driveshaft ordered. i have gotten the good engine and have started modifying the uim and lim to fit backwards. im hoping pez will chime in with some answers. im pretty sure i know what to do but i do have a couple of questions.

it looks like if i remove and weld over the bolt on coolant passage cover in the lim( with some modding to the inner structure to allow coolant flow like normal), the lim will clear the front cover with only slight clearancing. what did you do with the heater hose outlet on the other side of the lim? weld it shut? also what did you do with ect sensor? move it? i was thinking about a 90* turn

we will be using an s3 motor as well. up until this point i had planned on using a 96-98 fbody upper and lower intake, but not im going to have to go back to the drawing boards to make the l26 stuff work. how does the l26 oil pan fit behind the subframe? the camaro pan fits perfectly but i think the fwd pan hold more oil

I believe "tinman" has a 3800 5spd FC combo

i have studied his build and am kind of copying his mounting desing. i hope he wont mind. his build and car is awesome and i seriosly considered just buying it instead of building this car. this will be more fun though.

I may be able to help some.   I used to have a fairly gnarly Grand Prix GTP years ago.   Those 3800s take a TON of abuse.

ypur screen name is familiar, perhaps ive seen you on some grand prix boards. i have had a low 12 second gtp since 05

Ya, we've got one.  I've been keeping it on the DL, since we're currently competing with it.  Get a good look at these pics cos I might remove them soon.

The Camaro intake is the worst flowing of all the S2 intakes.  throw it in the garbage.  If you deside to keep it, unless you're gonna keep traction control or ABS, get rid of the massive TB too.  Get a DBC.

We're using a S3 since it came with slightly bigger valves and stock forged rods.  Also, the S3 intake flows a lot better.  We ported the T-total fuck out of it to accomidate a 75mm TB.

build your own headers.  There's a guy on ebay that sells exhaust flanges for teh 3800.  then we used 3 U bends, cut them in half (one half for each side = 6 total J bends), and a 4"-3" reducer for the collector.  when the pipes went into the collector, we heat and beat the reducer to contour the pipes.  total cost in the headers... about $70.

Run to the junk yard and get an oil filter neck from an S1 Oldsmobile Silhouette, that puts the filter where the AC compressor is on the F body (if you're not running AC) so the filter doesn't hit the stock radiator.  We're using an FC S5 radiator and ran the car HARD all weekend (in 40* temps), and the car never even got up to operating temps.  Stayed around 160* all weekend.  the front of the radiator is WELL shrowded.

Also using the stock FC oil cooler.

And for those interested in the track bit, it's got an adjustable wing (can be set up for various inputs to change its pitch angle).  High speed angle here.

Low speed angle

Pic and vid from this weekend

Other than the porting and headers, motor is bone stock.  We were very impressed with this motor.  As you can see, it's VERY competitive on the straights.  We need to dial in the suspension, but we all know what GM torque will do to an FC.

does the l26 uim bolt on backwards with no modification? im really happy you chimed in, those videos are perfect. we have campaigned an ITS rx7 for years and road atlanta is a must every year. its amazing comparing your video to our videos. its gonna be fast!! what are you doing for engine management? the current plan in a modified file with powertuner and an 02 gtp harness. are you using the l26 injectors? hows the trans holding up?

and the s3 motor does come with ever so slightly larger valves, but it does NOT come with forged rods. it comes with powdered metal rods witch are for all intents and purposes no better then cast rods.
