Wow Tomas, that's a very pretty car.  I would highly recommend the Samberg parts.

Never been to Iceland .... but the most beautiful women I ever saw was the wife of a distributor from Iceland at a conference here a few years ago. The product display was outside and it was 102*. She thought she was going to melt....I thought I was going to burst.

Welcome aboard! Very nice looking FD. I've been to Iceland a few times on my way over the Europe (back in the day when trans-Atlantic flights required a stop over for fuel).

+1 for Samberg mounting kit and hardware for quality construction and ease of installation. Rad kit is the best on the market, if you need a bolt in unit. Lemme know if I can help with any wiring/electrical components.

Well I've been collecting my things for  LS1 change.
But this is will be the first FD rx7 LSx powered car in Iceland.
In Iceland there are only like 7 rx7 cars and I have 2 of them.
I've run rx7 problem free for 2 years with a rotary engine.

did thing or two , like new rims and killed some tires
Got new wheels 19" are over kill on that car . So i gave it 18 8,5 and 9,5 .
Then i painted them

That is a great color and I'm liking the wheels.  I'm a big fan of 18" rims as the tires aren't as ridiculously priced as 19" ones.

You are going to have a fun car.  Is there emissions testing in Iceland?

Jeah we got one of thoes :(
But my mazda is reg 94 , So i don´t have to have catalytic converter, and the emissions law is a loose. Just have to fine tune it .
All car after 95 have to have catalytic converter , here in iceland  and the emissions law are stronger and harder to pass with modified cars.

But i have been so lazy working on the car.

Had to make my own motorframe. exporting stuff to iceland is so mutch $$$

The firewall looks great.  Finally, someone who doesn't just take a hammer to the thing and beat the shit ot of it.  It looks like it could be stock.

why did you go through all that effort to not shave the lip?
Title: Re: Rx7 Fd "Firewall mod"
Post by: spacevomit on January 16, 2014, 12:54:42 PM
I think that lip is for stiffness, so it makes sense to keep if you can.
Title: Re: Rx7 Fd "Firewall mod"
Post by: Ruler_Mark on January 16, 2014, 01:32:15 PM
its a pinch weld for where the firewall meets the upper firewall and wiper bucket, when he opened up that area it would be easier to just weld it flat than to recraft it back... I notched my wall then shaved that lip

It would have been easier, but this will be more rigid and it looks factory.

You are right at both stifnes for the wiper motor support and i like the factory look . I have a good space  betwen motor en firewall . I remove abs from the car and I hidden brake line under the lip .
will put more phots soon.
