It said "soon to be (trans that doesn't suck)" in the post.  :)

Trying what I thought was a great idea on a junk 8.8

Seemed like a good idea at the time, but I am going to follow through with it on the good axle tomorrow. Removing the long side, cut it down and then press back in.

Get the torch handy. Please cut the axle down in the lathe, just for bonus points.

Now, that I have this bit of shenanigans figured out, time to go ahead and do it on the good axle. I don't know why I always take the harder route

Fixed my mistake from earlier.....

1 for the Brick and 1 for a jeep. Brick gets narrowed with two short shafts and the TJ gets lengthened with two long shafts.

Thats the sync in the background. The 252 hasnt been used in a long long time... lol. I did use the round maker to put a 45 on the bearing end to weld it back on. I should have taken a pic of the v blocks and the right angle block to set it all back up again. Its really nice having a legit welding table now to set stuff up on. Its knowing things are flat and square.

Sometimes I sweep the garage floor so I can make things flat too...

I think I may turn a set of alignment pucks to double check the alignment....... I really can't see it being off from the press fit, but since I will be doing more, time well spent.
