Title: Computer nerds help!!
Post by: ALLslowNOshow on December 26, 2012, 09:32:27 PM
First off I'm one of those people that push buttons till it works, so I don't know to much about computers.

Well I got a HP laptop that crapped out on me, I think it might be something with the power. Anyways I was wondering if there's a way to retrieve my documents and stuff off the hard drive onto another computer.

Yes, remove the hard drive and install it in an external enclosure and hook that up to the new computer.  :)

I guess it's a SATA type hard drive. I'll check and see if I could find one those external enclosures you guys are talking about.

Try this for the hell of it.  Remove the battery and unplug the power cord.  Hold power button down for 10 seconds.   Plug it back in and see if it turns on.

I ended up going to Fry's and found one there for 10 bucks.

I had to do that a few months ago, to get it to work again.
