Title: 800rwhp 800rwtq with stock bottom end ls1
Post by: HorsePowerAddicts on November 03, 2012, 07:12:28 PM
Just figured i would post up a build on a 2001 Trans Am we finished up a few weeks back. The owner wanted to see how far we could push the new setup. 800rwhp was getting close to the fuel systems max. Not to mention the cam only LS1 surviving at 20 psi. We had a handfull of dyno pulls and about 30 street pulls on 20 psi. We have since turned it down to 12 psi and the owner is enjoying everything.

Engine:

-2001 LS1 80K miles
-Comp 231 239 .617 .624 113+4 lsa
-hardened pushrods
-Dual springs
-HPA Ported oil pump

Everything else stock. Heads have never been off.

Forced induction

-HPA F-body Stainless turbo kit(keeps A/C and power steering)
-Turbonetics TC78
-JGS 50mm wastegate
-JGS 56mm BOV
-AIS dual nozzle meth kit
-HPA speed density tuning

Fuel system

-HPA twin 255's in-tank
-60 Pound injectors
-Stock lines and rail

Drivetrain
-Monster stage 3 clutch
-HPA built T56
-Moser 9 inch(spool, 3.50 gears, 35 spline axles)

Here is a couple photos before the car was done. I will try and get him to swing back by so i can get some good pictures of everything finished up.

What kind of response and power does it make when it is @ 12psi?

The dyno i use is about 10 miles from my shop. If you are interested in getting a tune give me a call or email me. horsepoweraddicts@gmail.com

In the 640's at about 12 psi. Boost comes in fast with the .96 t4 housing. Depending on gear but full boost is around 3400 on the street. Basically if you are WOT you are making 12psi.

I like.  :)

Yes sir. 2nd pump kicks in about 5 psi and the meth comes about 8 psi. I had no issues keeping the AFR i wanted.

I was worried about my pump (A1000) and the returnless system that Im running...Do you not think I should change over to a return system?  I have a -8 line feeding up to the rail where it changes into a -6.  Im running meth as well....

I would recommend running a regulator/return with a A1000 and stock rail. Just get a 4an to 6an adapter off the end of the rail. Then run 6an to to a boost referenced regulator with 6an going from the regulator back to the tank.

Here is a picture of another Fbody we did a boost referenced return off the stock rail. Even with both pumps running at idle the fuel pressure stayed steady at 58 psi.

Grabbed a few more pictures of the car finished. Now on the second set of tires since the turbo. Torturing the 315 NT05R's at will. The EBoost street just takes a couple clicks to move up or down a few hundred HP.

how do you feel as far as reliability with the stock engine and that much power? from reading on ls1 tech people say its around 550 is the iffy mark. i have mine at 485 @ 8psi with a similar setup and a t76 (no meth though just 93 oct). my tuner wanted to keep going but i told him to stop there so i wouldnt have to replace the engine :P

It all depends on the setup. With a cam and meth i usually put ls1/ls6's between 600-650rwhp (t56) which is normally around 12psi.
