Ironic.  I was just shopping open top 2-posts last night.  Pretty sure I know exactly what brand this one is.

90% of the ones listed online are rebranded Chinese lifts.

Even some Mohawk ones are these exact lifts.

Holy shiz... I wouldnt load a lift anywhere near its rated capacity, maybe 2/3 max, never mind 150%.  My lifts are monster Rotarys and I wouldn't even THINK about doing that.  I won't even put a 1 ton dually on them.  Talk about overdoing it for effect...

That cheap lift would probably be fine for anyone here, the average car weight on this site is probably sub 3K.

So, they took a 10k lift that wasn't even able to lift 10k, loaded it to 15k, and it failed. This is news?

That almost looks like the lift Demon has?

It also looks like a older Forward lift.

I bitch about the lifts at work all the time cause I do have to lift 2500 and 3500 trucks with them.

I've been to greg smith equip, and purchased stuff from them... guess what, every lift other than the big mack daddy Mohawks are chinese made, even the ones greg smith equip say are American made.

Mine is a Titan brand, looks great, no issues, and it lifted my 6500lb truck with ease.  I don't plan on lifting the truck more than once every 2 years, but I did it to test it out.

Its a marketing gimmick, and this video is years old.

You can tell just by looking at that thing it shouldn't be rated for 10k.  There isn't even a brace supporting the tops of the posts.  Also look how wimpy the arms are.  The arms on my bendpak are huge in comparison.  Mine is an XPR-10. http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/two-post-lifts/xpr-10.aspx (http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/two-post-lifts/xpr-10.aspx)  You can see on that link the lift they have looks more like a 9k lift.  The other thing is they had every one of those arms at full extension,  but it did fail at its "rated" capacity.

It didn't fail at its rated capacity... if anything, it actually had a built in safety of the pump not being strong enough to lift over its rated capacity. They had to get a bigger pump to break the lift.

Ah I had the video muted since i'm at work.  That's crap then, if anything this video is going to make everyone afraid of lifts.  If the lift is screaming at you from all of the weight then why push your luck, it's all common sense.  Though the thing i can agree with from the video is comparing it to any other 10k lift from most other lift companies. They do have better built components ie. brace between posts and the beefier arms.

I will say, 2 years ago I bought a base plate lift from greg smith eq, and it looks identical to that one.  The arms do deflect quite a bit(inches) with a full size chevy on it.  So say 6000 lbs on a 9000lb lift, I can watch the posts twist and come towards each other, and the arms deflect.  I no longer put full size trucks over my head, which really pisses me off as I bought it for that reason.  Part of my problem is my concrete is not deep enough though, so I cant blame the lift entirely.  But after 2 years, the motor will not lift a reg cab long bed ram 2500hd cummins, probably 7500lbs?  Now I only put cars on it.

Mine is an overhead setup, so the added connection over the top has made mine pretty strong, and it was definitely chinese made.  I have the instructions, they were in chinese, lol.

I bought my baseplate lift from Greg Smith almost 2 years ago and it still functions like brand new. There has been a car suspended on it almost every day I have owned it. I have 6" concrete floors and the arms do not deflect at all. I spent an extra few hundred and bought the $1700 higher end baseplate lift. The most weight I've had on it is around 4500lbs. So far it has been good to me and worth every penny.

I have multiple friends with Greg smith lifts, all have good things to say.

Just saying be careful with what you are ordering/doing with your lift is all.

I got the bigger base plate lift as well, because I only have 6" of concrete as well and the smaller lift has a smaller floor plate.  I figured the more distributed the weight is the safer Id be.  Honestly its ok for cars and maybe half ton trucks but 9klbs, I dont think so.  Lol, i put my 06 crew cab long bed 4x4 dually duramax on it, just to lift a few inches to do a tire rotation, scary to say the least, and thats a few lbs under 9k.  Seems to me they should be underrated not overrated.

I have bought a Atlas BP8000 from Greg Smith (http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Atlas-BP8000) one year ago and I cannot be happier.

I had height restriction but wasn't interested by the MaxJax (http://www.maxjaxusa.com) so the Atlas BP8000 looked to be perfect for me and I knew at $1400.00 it was made in China but I gave it a try.

After 1 year of use I have had "0" issue .
I'll recommand this lift to anyone who is looking for a none commercial and inexpensive kit for his home.

Worth lift in my garage, also considered a big foot Mohawk.  I paid more for American made and it's beefy as hell, had the largest feet of any 2-post lift I could find for my piss ass concrete.  One day I'll make up a spanner to connect the tops of the two posts for added security.  I keep an inclinometer on the posts and never see any change even when I had my F150 on it.  I do take care to ensure the weight is  distributed evenly front to rear.  If your lift has small feet like the ones I see in most pics, well, I just could not buy one of those.  I have seen some shop lifts with large beams on the floor aft of the verticals to help prevent the overturning moment, nice feature.  Best wishes to all of us with lifts, I still get nervous at times when I'm under the car.
