Title: Bittersweet
Post by: 93ls1rx7 on October 21, 2012, 09:13:10 PM
Well as most of you know I am trying to sell my RX7.  Since I have been back home from Afghanistan, I have gotten a lot of interest and it seems like I am getting close to finding the right buyer.

As it gets closer, I cant help but think how bittersweet it is to find a buyer.

This car is my pride and joy and it is just hitting me that it is going to be a very strange feeling to see it drive away....

I am not having second thoughts but I am not sure how it is going to feel.  Fortunately the potential guys all seem to be really good guys and I think it will find a good home.

I know a lot of you have sold cars that you are attached to, how did you feel as it either drove away or pulled away on a trailer?

I'm usually laughing all the way to the bank, then to buying my next toy.  :yay: :halo:

I've only sold one car I had any attachment to.  I sometimes miss it now, but in general I was happy to move on.    I guess I don't get that attached.

Well, let's see.  I've been thru a lot of cars and I must say that I have hated to see a lot of them go due to one circumstance or another.  And if I had the chance and the money I would buy several of them back.

'63 fuelie, My very 1st car I bought after saving up $1900.
'68 GTX, traded the '63 in for this.
The list goes on for the next 45 years.
K code Mustangs, Shelby's, old, very old pick ups, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs, you name it.

And, yes, I was very attached to some for one reason or another and I was on the verge of tears when some went and some I was relieved to see that they went to a good home.

Let's just say that my wife said she'd leave me if I ever bought any more '57 Chevys.  That was probably 40 years ago.

Move on, what's in the past stays there and there are always "new" projects/cars in the future.

i didnt get to see my saturn drive off as I was in Iraq and my now ex0wife sold it behind my back. but I still miss that car. I mostly miss the looks I would get when I would pull off at a light and the BOV would push any road dust like 5' away from the car. it was mean for sure.

I did however drop my VW GTI off to the junk yard and that was a bad day. I was so sad to let her go. I knew I wouldnt be able to drive a car again for a long time and I figured it was a good choice. I got $200 more than I paid for it from the junk yard and they turned it into a rallyX car.

Good luck with your sale and cant wait till you get bcak into the cars ;)

I sold my 98 GTP to get my RHD WRX.

I still miss both those cars, but the GTP more...that was my first car that I ever really "modded". Lots of lessons learned on that car...it was a pretty good lookin car too.
