Introducing Ronin Speedworks
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:57:09 AM »
Frijolee here:

It's finally time to announce our new company: Ronin Speedworks?

This is the joint venture of Joel Payne (me), Mike "65imp" Lenhardt, and Steve ?Brismo7? Brisson.  The LLC paperwork has been filed so pending no hitches getting that approved we're ready to launch this thing!

Initial offerings will be:
-Mandeville Big Brakes for FC (FD is pending)
-LSX wiring harness modifications for easy chassis integration.
-FC ?Tri-Point? widebody (we bought the original molds which have been off the market for several years)
-FD widebody front (finally a front end that made to match Petite rears so you can run a 315 335 split)
-Wings (99 spec for FD, an improved version of the RE-Amemiya GT wing for FC, FD to follow)
-Heat scavenging hoods for FC and FD (Mazdaspeed)
-Plus a variety of other goods.
-We?re also working to set up distribution and online sales for several other vendors so you should have an easier time finding what you need and getting it when you need it.

A quick out take from the about us section of our website...
Our aim is holistic performance: we believe big horsepower is nothing without reliability and a clean build. We want the ability to put that power to the ground, handle, and stop. We strive for function driven pieces that fit correctly out of the box and look good doing it.

We ascribe to no particular brand loyalty and will freely mix and match between brands to serve an end goal. We?re launching Ronin with a focus on the Mazda RX7 because we found it combines a stiff lightweight chassis, a large transmission tunnel, rear wheel drive, and good suspension geometry. These traits making it a great starting point for several types of builds. However, we by no means discount the viability of other platforms. We hope to expand into other applications soon. The world is too big a place to worry about brand loyalty. We like hot rods, British roadsters, American muscle, and drifters. Our wiring mods should be a huge aid to anyone building a rock crawler or sand rail. We firmly believe that the best car for any owner is the best set of compromises to serve that owner's needs and budget. Please contact us if you have special requests.

It's your car. Make it what you want it to be. That's the Ronin way. Powerful Precision, Masterless Design.

Stay tuned for more!

Joel Payne (Frijolee)
Mike Lenhardt (65imp)
Steve Brisson (Brismo7)

It's coming fellas...  Everything's coming.  Mostly we wanted to let folks know it was happening and start getting some excitement building toward the launch.  We hadn't announced if previously because this is taking some time to set up.  We're doing this right and we're being careful to do all the proper things procedurally, especially given we're playing with brakes and performance related goods.

In terms of timeline we've been pushing for a company debut at SevenStock (September 18th) which we're attending as vendors.  However, it may take longer to get licenses in hand as all of CA offices are backlogged with budget cutbacks. We're going to open with group buys on several of the big ticket items (look for a dedicated thread on each in the next couple days) so we can start taking orders soon.

-Joel

PS Per request pics of my widebody as of SNS Davenport (paint starts this weekend!)

I really like that tripoint setup. Looks sick.

General price range on them?

Dont know if its worth building up an FC or hopping to an FD on the next chassis this drivetrain goes in

Im thinking I should contribute.  I have made a bunch of shit for the FC and still have molds but was not really great at following thru to sell them.  I might just give you the parts to mold and the molds themselves.

I have a full fc bodykit with projector lights (think RE FC2000 but nicer), bolt in sleeks, s5 3 piece lip, dash cover with pod, wide front fenders....just a ton of shit I really dont care about anymore...

Congrats and best of luck with the business venture guys!  Sounds like you will have some quality parts.  Almost makes me want to get an FC to try the stuff out. Lol
